    upgrade stock headlight bulbs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I like to get my headlight bulbs upgraded. I like to have something brighter than it.... the stock ones are really dull....

What are my options? I am not planning to change my headlight housing.... just the ballast and bulbs...

    Thanks in advance...

Do you have halogens? If so you want a hid kit. DDM tuning sells a kit cheap, lots of people including myself have it. The light output difference is night and day lol. Im upset it took me so long to get it, definately worthwhile upgrade

If you want to upgrade stockers you probably need to do the bixenons for better quality. DDM kits are good bang for your buck, I think somoene got them for like 50 bucks or so a while back. Our stockers really are kind of a let down. Just in case you just want a replacement they're 4300 D1S bulbs.

    Yes... I have the halogens..

Thanks for your suggestion... I do not have auto-leveling option in my 3.0 L.... this kit still fits the bill?

I have the 55w 8000k slim ballast kit. The color is similar to 6000k, the color is washed out a bit due to the higher wattage. It's a crisp whitish blue color and very bright. Spend the extra $ and get the 55w kit, you won't regret it .

    Re: upgrade stock headlight bulbs

Yea get the 55W kit. and no it does not take any extra wiring. for the install you need to attach the ballast under the headlight (where the OEM ballast would go), and punch a small hole to run the wires through the plastic. Then just stuff the wires back in and reinstall the lights. Takes about 30 minutes.

    Thanks,
    I think it's h7, but I could be wrong.

I hope I'm right, though, because that's what I just got in the mail today from DDM

Spector, I hate to bring up this older thread but were the h7 the correct Halogen bulb for the low beams? What bulbs for the high? I don't want HIDs since I have them in my S4 already and I need some better light. I have an 1.8 if that makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I ordered some PIAA Extreme White H7s and the same in H11 for the fogs. I had the Extreme Whites in my 95 pathfinder and the difference was night and day. I can't imagine that they wouldn't be good in the A4. Very white with only a tad of blue is you actually looked at the bulb closely.

Now, to find out how to actually replace the bulbs. The pathfinder was easy. The A4 doesn't look quite as easy.
