$159.00 / Hour Labor rate Audi Pembroke Pines, FL

Long story short, I call Audi of Pembroke Pines for a Part number for a rear prop shaft seal and the service advisor asks me if I want labor quoted. I replied just the part number, I'm going to have it installed at an independent shop. He asks me why? I tell him your labor rates are too high at $90/hr right? He tells me it's $159.00!!!! I fell out of my chair and almost choked eating a panini.

This has to be the hightest labor rate in the country. This is of course out of warranty. I wonder how much Beverly Hills charges or Manhattan? What do they base these rates off of?

I think that's about right (basing my comments on local rates) with ~$25 being a master tech. But these guys can bank some major cash if they are fast.

My mechanic charges per job. If it takes him 2 hours or 2 days, same price.

I charge a mix between the two. For some small jobs a flat rate.

He is pretty good at what he does, and if an issue arises it would more than likely be because of him. No need for you to be charged for a mistake on his behalf. For example, forged rod install is $1000 if you bring your own parts on the 1.8t. And he can do this in a days work. It's his own shop, and $1000 for a days work is pretty good if you ask me. That's just an example.

I opened a small shop and started charging 25 an hour. You'd be surprised how many people flock to you. Smaller jobs i do a flat rate. and on larger jobs. If i quote one price and end up going a few hours over my quote i wont charge more. If you do your customers right it always pays off. I get so much word of mouth business just from being fast, reliable and very reasonable in price. After 6 months i will probably up the rate to 50 an hour. Still nearly half of most local shops and itll help me grow. Plus I'll need to add a helper soon. And a bigger BAY!

It's funny because everytime i go to the audi dealership they drool and try to sell me a new car. NOOOPE.
