Bought new key fob shell, trying to transfer my key blade and circuit board...

I am sorry but I don't have any pictures (writing this at lunch time from work) but I can add some later if what I am describing is not clear. Like the title states, I bought a new key fob shell and I am trying to transfer my existing blade and circuit board to the new shell. My problem is with the circuit board. It's held into the old remote with two brass "rivets". The rivets don't seem to pull out and they don't twist out (I can turn them but they don't unscrew). How do I get past this? Do I need to actually break the rivets off? Thanks in advance.

I tried programming a new key fob to my S4 using my ross tech cable and software and it did not work. Tech support said to erase all keys and reprogram....seriously. I only have one good key and the last thing I want is to have that one not work.

So how do you reprogram a new key fob on a b5 s4?

Maybe you can search or start a new thread instead of changing the topic, please. In this thread, I am only asking how to remove the circuit board from an existing OEM key fob which is held in by two brass pins/rivets. Thanks.

Heat the brass rivets with a soldering iron very carefully and they will come out, with needle nose pliers. The rivets attach only once to a barbed plastic pole, after the circuit board slides on.

I used needle nose pliers and they eventually came out.

Zach, you saved the day. I was nervous about the use of a soldering iron but after countless wasted minutes of trying to pry the rivets out, I went for it. It was totally amazing. It was almost magic - lol. After leaving the iron in contact with the rivet head for about 45 seconds, the rivet rose out of the plastic tunnel it was embedded in, all by itself. Both rivets did this. It was neat to watch. You are right, the rivets are 'barbed'. Thanks man!

In my case, my electronics were fine and my key was fine, I just wanted a new shell for cosmetic reasons. I disagree that there is not a decent price savings when buying a new shell over a brand new complete key fob.
