I'd like to keep my car.

I was planning on getting a cbr600rr or a gsx-r600 here in the next year or so. Good luck Emil, 250 will be a nice bike to learn on. Like the others have said though, you're going to want to move up pretty quick!

The dealer did it before I picked it up. Not sure what they did to lower it for me.

I can take a look if I know what I'm looking for

how many of you heard anything about putting passenger on a 250? I dont want to do cowl eliminator because I want to be able to ride with my wife. Rule 22 followed as you can see she likes bikes :)

I feel like it wont be much longer before I'm comfortable enough to put a passenger on mine. I think since the 250's are geared so much lower that the only hard part would be starting on a hill (for people experienced with having a passenger in general).

im just going to be that guy for fun, but, isn't any "bullet bike" more than 93% of riders need for a daily commute? i mean, come on now. they're super uncomfortable to ride and they're basically made for the track, yet all the squids(not calling you guys squids, but 99% of the guys riding them are) i see on them never take them to the track, they're just doing wheelies and other "stuntz" down the road looking like jackasses.

in all seriousness, if i was to commute around on a bike, id want something more comfortable like this:

I've got a ninja zx6r... Love it. I think it's the perfect size, but want bigger just for my ego.

I bought an 08 ninja 250 when they came out. Had the second one the dealership got. I actually loved riding that bike. It's small so it feels like a fast spree and you can just throw it around. Still does about 110 mph as well. Sold it last fall for 3 g's

See I'm getting mine for $1500 with 10k miles on it.
chain, rubber, oil, brakes been changed last year. I figured I can ride it for one year and learn as much as I can before moving up to 600 possibly and when time will come to sell it I can sell it for same amount or $2000 which still will be a good deal IMO

Nice pick up on the bike, it's a good starter! Learn to ride, don't worry about dropping it, enjoy the summer. Do NOT put any money into aftermarket parts for it, as you will get bored with this bike by mid to end summer and may not get your money back on the parts.

Sell it next April, you'll get your money back for the bike, maybe even make some as you got a good deal.

As for oil changes, if you put more than 3k on it then change it, o/w change it after the winter. Also, go to Sears and for $20 get a battery tender for winter time.

Once you get comfy on highways and making high speed on/off ramp turns, go to a 600cc, then you can appreciate the twisties and nice switchback roads.

Also, don't plan on having passengers your first year of riding, give yourself some time b/c a second rider with you puts a whole new meaning to high speed turning, especially if they do not glue to you!

I just sold my ZX6 and picked up a cruiser, seems like as I age and get ballsier, this may be the only way to slow me down!

Also, not sure why you guys above are quoting such high insurance rates, unless you're under 21? For a full year liability, I was paying like $75 or less on my Kawi thru Progressive.

    Thanks Mike
Bike actually has a Yoshimura TRC pipe on it and a KN air filter. Sounds amazing

I'm hoping 250 will be more then plenty for me as i am i no need of fast bike. If i really enjoy this model i might look into 2011 next year. Not really into speed and all. Just looking to cruise and chill with few friends during summers. As for the second passenger i dont think i will put anyone elses life in danger other then mine for a long time

Speed can be defined differently, it's skills/experience that will be the first task, after that a good rider should be able to handle a variety of bikes on par, here is a perfect example, love this vid!:

I suggest you pick up some riding boots and at least a sturdy pair of jeans. You will be happy you are wearing them if and when you go down. When you are on that bike you have to have the mentality that everyone else on the road is out to get you. Do not sit in blind spots and always watch out coming in to a intersection. Cagers don't look out for bikes and they have a hard time judging distance, always be prepared to dodge a car. Be proactive. Stay Safe.

I've got an 06 Triumph Daytona 675. My first bike in high school was a 1985 honda magna vf700. In between I had a 1999 Duc 748S. I also had an old Kawi KX80 dirtbike when I was in junior high.

Starting with the 250 is a great idea. If I didn't have dirtbike experience or start off on a medium displacement standard style bike, there is no way I would have had the skill to start off on a modern 600 supersport. A lot of people think that just because they can physically make the bike go, they have the required skill to safely ride. The fact is, that there are way too many riders out there with a false sense of confidence. You can't beat the law of averages. Eventually it will catch up to you.

Being a smart rider, wearing your gear, understanding not just how to ride, but the physics of it, is what puts a good rider above a squid....if you don't know what a squid is, you probably are one yourself.

My opinion is that you didn't do anything flattering to that bike.

    Goldwing video however, is AMAZING.

WTF did you do to my bike? it looks like a starburst candy commercial. hahahaha and what's with the radiation stickers? it's the fastest bike in the 600 class but its not nuclear powered.

but seriously, i think bikes should be one solid color like my Triumph or what Ducati does. Multiple colors and crazy graphics on a bike aren't my style. I think one solid color, especially red says, my engine does the talking for me, not the paint job.

I'm so sick of bikes right now.

For the last 3 months I've spent every day talking about them, quoting them, taking pics of them, etc.

    Enough of bike season!

Yeah, I had all that "OMG,my bike is so fast" decal crap on my Ninja and I hated it. I peeled all of them off and liked it much better as a solid color. If you do want multi-color, keep it simple and stick to two...then do some sort of basic two tone scheme.

i'm guessing that yamaha 250 is a concept bike? I wasn't aware they made a 250. and even if they did, why would they call it the r4? it should be the R2.

I could write something cliché and insightful, but that would be too cliché and insightful.
