    S4 won't start

    So my s4 won't start, you can pop start it no problem no cel come on or anything. I thought it was the starter took it to the mechanic and the starter is fine, clutch switch is ok also...anything else that it could be?

    crank position sensor. happened on my buddies s4. would crank but not start intermittently.

    I don't believe it's the crank sensor because the car won't crank at all, the starter isn't seeing any power at all

    This happened to me, but I wasn't able to pop start. The part of the tumbler casting that receives the tip of the key to turn the actual switch broke. I had no spring resistance in the tumbler at all...does your key snap back to the 'on' position after you turn it to 'start'?

    It does but not very much, dropped it off at a vw/Audi specialist I'll see how it goes...hope it's not a crazy expensive repair :(

    I had this with one of mine, ended up being the starter relay under the dash.

    Unfortunately it's rather labor intensive. They have to drill out a couple of things and grind away at the tumbler to get it out.

    I don't know if what you're describing really sounds like a broken ignition tumbler, though. I paid close to $400 at Avalon here in Denver to have mine replaced. Hopefully it's just a relay!
