    Possible bad flywheel?

So I have had some slipping/bucking issues under 3k rpms and assumed it was due to a main seal leak. When I got around to taking the transmission out, to use in another Audi. I saw the flywheel was smooth and the only real wear was the outer 1/3 of the flywheel. I haven't taken the flywheel to be resurfaced yet just trying to get some input and weigh my options. Oh also the pilot bearing was completely wasted. All that was left was a ring and the outer casing. Maybe that made the flywheel wear just in that area? It was also making a loud chattering when in neutral unless my foot was on the petal pressed to the floor:)

Your input shaft was bending and moving around due to the pilot bearing being junk. I'd be concerned that there is internal transmission damage due to the shaft flexing. I've had a gearbox ruined by a customer because they did not use a pilot bearing in their project. Probably the same reason the flywheel looks odd.
