    Been getting some questions from people during scans to do their light coding. Although I can do the coding I am not doing it for the general public at the moment. It takes some additional time right now since I don't have a chart or anything made yet. I have to break down the individual channels and recode. Not impossible but time consuming and I like to plan for an hour with testing.

    Contributions to my site I will squeeze in if your looking for the coding as I support those who support me. Everyone else please be patient :)

    Can't they do it them selves? I mean they already have the cable and the steps/write-ups are everywhere on the net.

    Huh? I'd like to see where the instructions and the coding are available to do this. I find that a bit insulting on the down play of the time and work we have put into this so far.

    There are no write-ups on the web for doing this. There are pretty much three people/groups who know how to do this; Audi (who won't release the info), Kufatec (who charges a few hundred dollars for a one-time use dongle that gives you one option, and DavidB8 and Thorsten who are working on making this so you can pretty much have any combination of what you want.

    Read post #32.

    Those two have put in a couple hundred hours to decode and figure all this out and they are still testing this with as many combinations as they can.

    My mistake, I thought you were talking about coding the fog lights, ambient lighting, and LED's.

    Just finished a coding session with David - My lights look great!!!
    Brake light wraps around the whole housing, turn signal is separated, and my center led brake light (at the top of the rear window) is now my rear fog light

    I will post a video tomorrow..

    Thanks again David!

    My head hurts.... But I smile when I think of that window brake light converted to the Fog light I so can't wait to see the video.

    Right now the only Sedan in the world with that configuration and full braking braking on a bulb car. I said it as we where working on it but I'm more excited to see your set up than I was mine. If I had a bulb car that would be one of my top configuration choices. Once you go LED down the road you can put your fog lights back on the lenses.

    Wow... Again great job for David and Thorsten.

    Is there anyway to turn off cold diagnostics for certain bulbs (i.e. reverse and fog) and also allow to change the turn signal bulbs to LED's without the use of resistors?

    Not that I can see. I even managed to trigger a bulb warning my LED plate lights when I reduced their brightness to far.

    Possible yes. Without trying it though hard to know for sure. LED lights don't have the same brightness settings that bulbs do. So this may actually be how the computer knows which type of light is in use. However not sure yet. There may be other coding that controls it. Until there have been enough scans collected to compare LED vs Bulbs and from different parts of the world i.e ROW vs NA it's hard to know. Since Europe uses bulbs with their LED's and NA doesn't it may be possible to determine if there is different coding with enough scans to compare.

    You can't scan it I'd have to. You need a special security code to get to where the lighting is.

    Just to make things easier I'd like to standardize some terminology. Hopefully this sticks to make life easier for all. Try and keep in mind that we are a multi national board here. I know we like to bastardize what the rest of the world does here in North America but since we are driving European..

    We here in North America refer to parking lights as the lights that come on before our headlights. Such as the the rear lights and marker lights. This may work in our own little world but that's not what parking lights are. Most of the work would call those side lights or possible running lights. Parking lights are the lights that come on when you turn off your car and place your indicator in the left or right hand position. Now we don't get that option here in North America, how ever I have found and released the coding for that.

    On another note, does anyone know where to find a drawing for the A4 lights like the cool one that is posted for the A5 on the A5_OC forum?

    One solution could be to do the 'drawing' our self...

    Here is my EU A4 Avant:

    A = Parking/Brake
    B = Brake
    C = Parking/Brake
    D = Brake
    E = Fog
    F = Reverse
    G = Turn

    We just need someone from NA and RoW who take a photo of there tails.

    NA: A4 Sedan/Avant and A5
    RoW: A4 Sedan/Avant and A5

    Maybe the mapping of the functions can be done like I have - otherwise just post the photo and the functions, then I'll make the 'drawing' with photoshop.

    Looks good, just not sure I like the 3rd brake as the fog and also not sure on the legality of that one

    also, your LEDs on the front flicker a lot with the headlights on.

    ummmm that's some video. Like the lights. We'll make the change back on your 3rd brake light for now until we can be more creative with the rear fog.

    Not sure there would be any legal issues here, the car started with 3 brake lights now it has 4 6 :)

    lol - we are going to change it back... it was more of a "look what we can do"
    oh, and it is totally illegal

    I accidentally shot the videos at ISO 3200 (major fail on my part) which bumped my shutter speed up quite a bit... When the LEDs dim, they pulse rapidly to appear dimmer. The human eye cannot detect the flicker but the camera can... In reality, the LEDs appear dimmer, but do not appear to flicker in any way...
    videos are pretty clean for 3200, eh?

    Great video. I really understand why you guys want to change the NA setup. The Euro solution is so much clearer in telling people what's going on. I also didn't realise you had the front orange turn signal on solidly for driving.

    Gotta agree about the high-level brake light concerns. This high-level one is high-level for a reason.

    It's pretty cool you've got the options to tweak as you see fit.

    Yes, this would be the setup I want.
    Is there a long code that can be copied and saved for later or are these adaptations a manual tweak each time?
    Dave, how much are you charging?
    I'd like to get in line for your coding. :)

    I think other than making sure the turn was separate I think I would try and turn F into a fog light. I think it would look pretty cool having the entire inner light as a fog.

    there's already a VAG code for that.....I don't have it handy but it's in the large VAG-COM thread.

    yeah, but that code seems to have a less than 50% success rate. I wonder if it is related to USA/NA cars and ROW cars

    My opinion (you did ask!) is that it is as horrid, if not more so, that the side markers.

    The only US light difference to Euro that I like is that you can have LED turn signals on the rear.
