Please do not pictures that will confuse everyone
Your method does not work when the adjusters are working. It worked in your case because the upper part of the adjuster is seized

    Thank you

Really? Didn't even seem to be that those seperated. Seems odd that they would, makes it kind of useless does it not? What is the purpose of the access holes? Wasn't trying to confuse....just help.

lol i love how he says "throwing this out there since its the way i did it" and gets flamed

could've sworn that's the correct way to do it (don't ask me i don't even have adjusters), but looking at the DIY it seems to be a little more involved.

It is the correct way. I have to say that this DIY is just WRONG in suggesting to glue the adjusters. That is not how any of the Audi designed adjusters are meant to be used. I said it somewhere before but here it goes again.

    Here is the correct procedure.
The adjusters are reverse threaded (the stiff upper machined thread is opposite from the lower reverse threaded plastic thread). This is so that as you tighten the adjuster through the access hole correctly highlighted above, you can gently lift up on the bumper allowing the adjuster to raise up. It should passively raise up until it meets your bumper support tabs. At the point of contact, the plastic thread will stop raising and the stiffer machined screw will pinch down on the bumper tab setting the position.

A pearl for installation is that you should actually cleanse and lube the reverse threaded plastic part of the adjuster to allow it to move freely. The upper machined screw should not be lubed but rather stiff.

The same concept is used for the headlight mounting screws.

Gluing the plastic adjusters makes remounting the bumper at that height unnecessarily difficult. This DIY should be revised.

I welcome any comments / questions.

Edit: here is the link where I described the steps more in depth.

And again, I would stand to what I said: 95% of the time, the upper screw will not raise the lower part of the adjuster due to bumper tab pressure on it. Even if you unload the pressure, it will not be enough to raise the adjuster.
If a bumper is pulled for the first time, you will see that you can't slide out the bumper from the adjuster because the upper part is tight on the bumper tab and adjuster lower part. With your process, if you try to achieve that, the adjuster lower part will come down.
I glued the adjuster for one simple reason: once adjusted, he will stay in position and you can remove/reinstall the bumper as many times as you want, it will remain in the same position.

Here again, I am sharing what works and not what should work.

As usual, my 2 cents and really don't give a crap of how you do it

    Phil

Im still trying to first get rid of the gap between headlight and fender. I tried lifting radiator and tightening then lifting crashbar and refocusing but still have a few mm gap between weather stop ontop of headlight and front of fender. Fender tip also seems to stick out further than headlight.
Guess I need to pull crashbar off and try again.

    Edit:
well I fixed it the easy way. 2 washers under each bolt and no more gap. Adjuster on inside was seized and prob up all the way up and adjuster on outside was already at max up. 2 washers under top bracket too. now can just ajust bumper height to make it all right (i hope).
I know it is crashbar and radiator that new to come up but this fix works for now as I am out of time. Wife needed car yesterday but i had no distilled water (just did timing belt).
I have same issues when pulling crashbar on MS6 (mazdaspeed6) as it also hold radiator mount which headlights mount to.

I have seen many b7s with a gap where the bumper meets the fender right were it curves. After installing my new sline bumper i have this gap a little, which was never the case on my non sline bumper. Any ideas?

Necro bump, but does anyone know how to fix the alignment of the front bumper where it meets the fenders, like DanKing was asking? My hood gap isn't great but it doesn't bother me as much as this. Here are some pics:

Can I just adjust the side clips or do I need to do the entire process? Something else? Thanks.

That looks like that because there's tension on the bumper.

As a side note, any recommendations for when the headlights seem to get in the way? I still have a slight gap where the bumper needs to go up half an inch

    Hi Phil,

This seemed to have worked great when the headlights were out and I got a perfect gap... but as soon as I installed the headlights the bumper again sagged. I made the sure the rubber piece lined up and use super glue on the bumper supports... Wonder why

is it possible to just adjust the mounts without taking the bumper/headlights off to raise is up just a bit? my bumper sits fine but just that theres a small gap from the grille to the hood ever so slightly. im hoping turning the support mounts while the bumper is on will raise it a bit and close the gap

You won't be able to adjust them with the headlights in. Youll need to remove the bumper , remove the headlights, put the bumper back on without the headlight. Then you can close the hood, and adjust the adjusters via the headlight hole .

Bumper/Hood Gap Adjustment (after bumper removal)

If anyone cares this is the proper procedure for aligning the bumper, it gives set specs to do it and the top screw is actually supposed to be "glued" to the bottom one, not the other way around (the big plastic one is supposed to tighten and loosen) and I guess the screw is just supposed to be more of a guide and the bottom one is supposed to create the tension

Also if you run into an issue where your hood doesn't line up with the fenders but using the height adjustment adds way too much tension to the hood lever the hood lock is adjustable as shown here
