    Boost gauge installed wrong?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I had a shop install my podi boost gauge but when I'm driving the needle never goes past the 0 psi. So it seems like only the vacuum is reading? do I have it in the wrong setting or dos they install it wrong?

most likely they installed it wrong, or the hose has a pinch, or you have a boost leak and have had it for a little while (you would have noticed a drop off in performance tho)

but most likely its a pinch in the hose

What did they tap into to read the boost? FPR?

theres probably a pinch on the line. Even if you were leaking it'd be more than 0psi. You have to check where the line is going and check also RIGHT behind where you installed the gauge, thats where mine was pinched.

If it DOES read vacuum, sounds like they may have installed it behind something with a check-valve. Tapping into the FPR line is said to be best, and is where I run mine. Also, while you're in there, throw in an anti-buzz fitting... incredibly frustrating without one.

Just something to consider on top of what everyone else said, as often times, a pinched line would USUALLY result in an understated boost reading with minimal to no vacuum.

i had the same issue. i have the non electronic one. The valve was on mine in a bad position and had to take it off and make it face the other way cuz the hose was pinched against the pod wall

Very odd that they wired it to the headlight unless i read it wrong n they wired the back light to the guage to turn on when ur lights are on

Is it a mechanical guage or electronic ?

It's a mechanical since he mentioned the anti-buzz. It does indeed sound like a pinch somewhere. Do you know where they routed the line?

If the gauge is on only when your headlights are on then it is wired incorrectly.

The red wire goes to a switched +12V source, yellow to constant power (for memory) and black to ground.

If you are turning your gauge on and off with the headlight switch and it is not shutting down correctly there could be a whole bunch of reasons why you are not getting a correct reading.
