    Its a 50k+ car with one or two more features than the cars had 10 years ago. If you can't shell out for a laptop and a cable I don't know what to tell ya. Well.. theres always the dealer.

    A bit off topic, can someone explain how to e-brake works on our cars. My impression on how i think it works, but i could be very wrong:
    Hit button, brake pedal goes down slightly, some electric motors manually push in the rear caliper pistons.

    Are my assumptions correct? Also, if a motor is pushing the pistons in manually, that means they're not hydralically activated and also no brake pressure is applied to the front brakes?

    Sounds correct, except the part about the brake pedal going down because you actually need to depress the brake with your foot before the parking brake can be activated.

    Not with....::drumroll::

    VCDS. You can alter the behavior of much of the car using it. I have my brake set to go on anytime I hit it, and it will come off without my seatbelt on and I can just put it in gear and pull away.

    That said, get the Ross-Tech, the others are knock off's and will only work with the version software they ship it with because they are illegal pirated copies of the Ross-tech cable. Don't support pirating.

    The only one I can't get to work is being able to turn off the parking brake without having my foot on the brake pedal. The option just does nothing.

    Actually with B8.5s you can't disable this. The option does nothing, and the hex values are meaningless. You have to depress the brake to enable or disable the EPB.

    Not true. I recently disabled seatbelt and depress brake pedal and I just start car, put in gear, and step on the gas and EPB releases. 2014 S4
