Scott at EuroWise hooked this up - custom center stainless steel non-resonated Xpipe - Stainless Steel Resonated Aventador (as they use on their in-house R8 exhaust and have done several local S5s) w/ SS tips - Inside the cabin you get a nice throaty rumble - but I must say it is a low tone frequency so there is feedback/vibration in the cabin while under throttle (i think i need to delete that thing that places engine/exhaust sound in the cabin via the speakers)(Looks like I will need to sound dampen a few areas in the trunk to quiet the cabin down a tad)... anyway... it is amazing - aggressive - drone - I could go on with adjectives so here is a clip:
Shameless plug to EuroWise Mike/Scott/Marc - THANKS

EDIT: Dampened several areas around the spare - filled w/R19 the hole next to the sub and covered w/Peal & Seal ... must have knocked down about 40% of the drone

Well I finished the exhaust mod today. I would love to have the Armytrix exhaust, but I'm about to deploy, so this will suffice for now lol..

Anyways, I replaced the baby resonators with a non-resonated x-pipe, removed the center resonator and replaced it with straight pipes, and still have the oem mufflers. It's definitely a lot better than stock, but it's not the deep loud rumble I'm looking for.

Still happy though, glad i read all 34 pages and watched every single clip in this thread haha.

you have the same setup like me, but on position of baby resonators. so your car must be louder then my. show a video with revs and drive through.

So you're straight piped through the baby resonators, & X pipe in the center resonator ? It's louder but not loud enough for me. I need to remove the mufflers lol

no i have just replaced the middle resonator with a xpipe. baby resonators are still installed. 4000rpm+ mist little bit to loud for me. 1000-4000rpm is perfect. :)
    post your video please. :)

It's also mild steel, rather than stainless. Not that it wont work, but it is something to consider if longevity is important to you.

If you want Armytrix sound, just replace center res with a rusty harmonica

Center res del - OEM muffler del - in house stainless Xpipe - and the same resonators/tips they use on their in house R8 exhaust build
Just finished adding Dynamat - and R19 rockwool to the trunk area/spare tire to dampen the drone - think i may do under the rear seat next - cabin drone cut by 40/45%

Are the resonator/tips in place of your mufflers? So you have two "resonators" with tips installed? I don't mind loud drone. I had a fully built 2JZ with 4" straight pipes lol. I mean, I'm also still young and work on bombers so my hearing is gone anyway haha

Got some new toys... fresh outta the box.

... Can get more at favorable pricing. PM if interested

4" 102mm quad SS polished exhaust tips - single 2.5" inlet
1 2.5" dual inlet and outlet Magnaflow X-Pipe
    1 x Simons/Jetex U3463DR - Muffler / Resonator (2.5" dual in/out)
    2 x Simons/Jetex U316300R - Mufflers (2.5" single in/out)

I plan to replace the baby resonators in section 1 with the U3463DR followed by the MF X-pipe. Will remove the Center Resonator in section 2. Lastly, mufflers in section 3 will be replaced with 2x U316300R exiting 4"/102mm quad SS tips. 2.5" SS piping all the way back from the baby DP's to the tailpipes.

From conversations with Lenti, who pioneered a similar setup - drone was pretty bad in the cabin with his install. Lenti placed the U3463DR and X-pipe where the center resonator is. Since I will place the U3463DR and X-pipe where the baby resonators are, drone should be minimal, if any at all. Should sound like this when done:

You should not have to replace anything in section one - the sound/video clip you posted - cant be a true representation to mirror... that cars set up as its European Spec (Not N American) remember - on a Euro Spec car the catalytic converters (above the section in the red box numbered 1)(thats N American to meet emission standards) Euro spec those cats will be further down stream on the down pipes- Just trying to save you a few bucks - pretty sure why some only do the Xpipe and retain OEM mufflers

    Just my 2cents

Not a fan of the raspi-ness I've heard from X-Pipe installs where the stock mufflers remain.

From what I gathered reading this encyclopedia... aka thread, some folks who left the baby resonators alone (section 1), and simply replaced the center resonator with an X-pipe (resonated or not), ended up with drone.

Unscientific theory I have is that the baby resonators removed, and an X-pipe in its place would be less likely to lead to drone.

Totally get you on not being able to get an exact replica of the sound from the video I posted (North American car vs Euro Spec).

I'll be happy if it's close.

Would appreciate your thoughts on placement of the U3463DR silencer and X-pipe.

Thats a tuff nut to crack I think.... and you have to experiment to find that sweet spot or performance / increased flow / elusive "sound" we want and it not sound like junk & stay on budget

The magic and where to place resonators forward of the Xpipe (has to remain center in the exhaust stream (cross/cancel resonance based on the cylinders firing order) - calculate pipe length to frequency - and not get drone....brother you crack that and Ill pay you ;). But to get that sound we want I think the trade off will still be drone. I will say this: The trunk/spare wheel well stock is just a f*cking echo chamber for mods done to the exhaust. So some of my budget money went to sound dampening... and addressing those areas & the speaker shelf/rear seat area has improved the cabin sound (aka pass the wife & kids test)

Stasis had it figured out with their center resonator and resonated muffler(s)

I budgeted for trying 4 configurations. Lol. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Will still have my stock exhaust if it just doesn't pan out.

So how much have you spent all in, with the current parts you have?

Just my .02 is I would start by looking at the layout of some of the high quality systems that we know don't drone for placement of your components. I think the main difference from the custom one to AWE's was that the xpipe was earlier, before the resonator. That sounds in line with what you were thinking. Might as well use their R&D to make your mock up easier.

Good idea. All in on parts I'm around $650. Figuring in $300-600 for 2.5" fab. Expecting total for the first shot in the $1,200 ballpark.

I need to address the rear mufflers, my build stats are earlier in this tome. The MF mufflers create too much drone at speed (70-85). (I have put a lot of sound deadening in the spare tire area and subwoofer shelf) I am thinking about putting the stock mufflers back on or finding a muffler that Akrapovic or Milltek uses?

I like bayonet's first clip, but the dropbox clip sounds like what I have now? Panda, I sent you a PM but with the wrong part number. Where did you source the 316300's? So what I now want, is a higher pitch, even a little raspy is not going to be as bad a the low frequency drone.

So to save money - dont remove the center resonator (OEM is as effcicient as most aftermarket) - just del the smaller down pipe resonators and insall Xpipe there

Otherwise your not doing much - pretty sure it will still drone (sound will just not be aft anymore but forward and directly under the front part of the cabin) and your not reducing back pressure

Anybody here consult/work for JPL - or have experience in fluid dynamics? Bet we could get them to run 3d modeling and see what works

I was thinking of doing exactly that. Fab up an X pipe in place of baby resonators, leave center res, leave stock mufflers

I installed the resonated x pipe (#11385) to replace the down pipe resonators and replaced the center resonator with straight pipes. My question is, if I replace the straight pipes (where the center resonator was) with the straight through resonated magnaflow (#11378), would the volume be lower but keep the same rumble/tone/frequency? I have the stock mufflers on.
