I bought my ross-tech "clone" cable from ebay for $26. It comes with vcds v11.11 and I have been able to do all the mods to my B8.5 S4 without any issues.

I can't seem to get the "Lights are on" beep to disable. Anyone have any insight? I go to Byte 5 and there is only one box to check and it's for something unrelated.

FWIW, I'm not related to the seller, nor I'm recommending any of these "clones" cables over the real McCoy. I just can say that with my "Cheapo" cable like this one above, I was able to do every mod that I needed to do.

Hey folks, I have a 2012 S4 (B8) with 6MT that is not equipped with ADS or Rear Sport diff 'ADS Lite'. I was browsing around one of the other VAG-COM threads and found this bit of code:

Specifically pertaining the lines in bold text - are these applicable to my configuration? Or must the car be equipped with at least the Rear Sport Diff 'ADS Lite' to take advantage of these?

You do realize they are selling pirated software right? It is stolen, plain and simple.

Edit: the software is 'free' for a limited set of features. The cable is reverse engineered to trick the software into thinking you actually bought the ross-tech product. No legit cable/software tells you not to update it and to keep your computer clock set to the past...just sayin.

Hey guys, I know this is the s4 section but its the best thread for vcds related issues. I've done a bunch of searching all over for the coding/adaptations for a d4 a8L to change the upper interior lighting to red as this isn't a US option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also ran across a few posts elsewhere on other forums about receiving text messages through the mmi high line equipped vehicles. Anybody know if this is possible? Maybe through hidden menu functions? I'm sure there are a lot of guys out there with more hidden menu knowledge than me

I'm not promoting anyone to buy this cable, just stating the facts. Just for the record, I do not need to set my clock in the past on my laptop, nor they ask me not to update the software, etc. It just works and I was able to do everything I needed to do. plain and simple. YMMV...

I want to say thanks, just did a bunch of these the other day. 1 Quick question my S4 does not have the audi drive select with sport diff and all the fancy options. But i do enjoy a spirited drive and obviously it cant be as fun as you guys with it. Can I code the car to still have the dynamic function and have a less intrusive ESP/ASR. Even when i push and hold for an amount of time, ( i get the ASR off then after a few Reduced stability) the system still remains and as soon as i start to get it to step out it intervenes, i would like a littttttttle more freedom.

Not sure on this platform, but I saw cheap ebay cables and "free" vag software screw up some modules such as the airbag controllers. I am not sure it is worth it. Besides, Ross Tech does good work and they deserve to be paid.

Regarding the tails - yes, I have the DRL tails working properly after the mod. But they don't come on at all with the Euro parking lights mod. So, I take it that no one with a (US) '13 has tried this option and noticed the same issue? What about B8 owners who have enabled this mod?

Just curious if you ever got the Euro parking lights working for the tails. Not sure how far you want to go to investigate this, but after double checking the coding you already did to be sure you didnt inadvertenty change something else, you could check the adaptations of the BCM2 channels for the taillights to see if they are setup to be used as parking lights. With the facelift tails, only the outer taillight (and marker for NA - uses the same channel as the outer taillight I think) should be set as the parking light. So taking the left side as an example, you can check the lower 5 bits of the channel controlling the outer tail left ... They should be 00010 to function as a taillight, parking light, and coming home/leaving home. In the channel controlling the inner tail left... you should find 00001 to function only as a taillight and coming home/leaving home (not parking light). If you find 00001 in the lower bits of the outer taillight channel... I would think changing it to 00010 would make it work.

All of that being said, I'm not sure why audi would have set it up that way for the NA '13's... They could have left the adaptation the same for ROW and NA, and just controlled it with the coding you already did... So I kind of doubt that this is your issue, but it's where I would look next if it was me and I already double checked my other coding to be sure I didn't miss anything.

Wow - thanks for the detailed response! I never got them working (and I did double check my coding). I'll need some time to work up the courage to go through all of the testing you recommend, since I'm not entirely comfortable doing anything other than using the long coding helper and performing GUI-based tweaks (checking/unchecking descriptive boxes)! I enabled the ADS steering and engine modes on my non sport diff 2012 S4 tonight via VCDS, and I have to say WOW, what a difference the dynamic engine mode makes. Throttle response is snappy, makes the car feel like it's pulling harder, downshifts are more precise due to more responsive throttle blipping. Makes me happy!

I also enable interior ambient lighting, i.e. foot glow lighting while driving. Kind dumb, but kinda cool.

I had a feeling that would be the case. Is it putting out more power/torque, or is it just delivering it differently?
At any rate, the car feels like a slug when I put it in Comfort mode so I might have to deal with the reduced mileage.

It's unclear to me how people not equipped with dynamic steering are able to enable it in software and have the same steering gearing with cars that are mechanically equipped with it, at least my understanding was this was a hardware and software solution that changes the steering ratio at low speeds when turning.

Mine works. You need to enable it in the MMI screen under car systems.

Hold the lock button down and it will close.

That sounds cool, but really not much use to those of us north of the Rio Grande. 60mph would be a better trigger speed.

I was unable to enable window control with my remote (advanced key) and tried a few different combos w/ Bits 2, 3 and 4. Anyone other 2013 owners have any luck with this one?

EDIT: Oh and had to reset the MMI, directions are in the MMI/ Nav manual on page 15. If you don't have/ too lazy to look it's menu button, middle button and top right soft key. Effectively the same reset sequence as pre 2013, but substituting the menu button for the system button.

Adding onto this post, we were using a new release of VCDS, 11.11.5, so things were labeled a bit differently than I am used to. Anyone else using the newer release that can help us out here?

Hey Everyone!! I just recently bought the VCDS Software and even updated it to the most recent 11.11.5 BUT I am getting an error that says "Ross-Tech USB Interface not Found" when I try to configure it. I have the cable plugged into my USB port and the lights blinks on the cable but this is the result. Any ideas??

Yea it it suppose to be! I tried it plugged in and not plugged in. Plus tried 2 USB ports. I'm a newbie to this software, maybe I'm making mistake??
