Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have about 4 years or 100k left on my warranty. I'm currently around 38k mi. When then inevitable happens (cam follower or timing chain)

Will most audi dealers stand behind their CPO and replace under warranty?

Sorry with all these threads about this you people have gotten me paranoid

If they fail, yes they will fix it.
They will not pay for replacements before it fails or snaps.

Cam follower if it throws a code or fails should be. Timing belt is suppose to be changed any where from 75K-100K so you will be responsibly for that unless it blows up before 75k! I have the same coverage and just failed oil consumption test with 96,400 on the clock and thank god my dealership is awesome because I'm getting a new long block as I type! Just don't be a DICK it goes a long way when something goes wrong!

I just got a new HPFP, cam follower and the cam shaft at 60K miles on CPO. Went to the dealer to complain about loss of acceleration and turns out the HPFP wore through the follower. There was no check engine light present.

Check your cam follower every 10K and the first sign of scoring you see, take it straight to the dealer.

I wouldn't sweat the timing chain for a while. When you get around 90K miles or so, I'd take it to the dealer to have them check it out. The chances of fucking up your timing chain before 90K miles is pretty slim to none especially if your not going BAT.

How can one "check" the timing belt?

It's not a belt, it's a chain. Pretty much the only way to check it is to practically take off the entire front end of your car. Just search for Phil's timing chain replacement DIY.

Once again, the dealer won't even touch your car without charging time unless it throws codes or you get a CEL, even if you check your cam follower every 10k and see the first sign of scoring. I say this because I have had multiple failed attempts with my dealer. It seems like I just have to wait it out unless anyone has an idea to get the car to throw the specific codes or CEL prematurely. Let me know if there is a way to do this, b'cuz i'm at about 77k and I haven't had my cam follower replaced yet and my car is running fine. I want to get it done before my CPO warranty runs out though.

Lol it's a belt man. Only the 3.2 gets a chain on the B7. Hate to break it to you.

You need to find another dealer. They're going to try and put it off until your CPO expires, then your follower fails, your cam is torn to shit, and you're left with a few thousand dollar repair bill.

Having read the plethora of threads out there on multiple forums regarding the cam follower issue by people who are in the same situation I am in, have already been screwed over, as well as the few who have successfully been taken care of under warranty I have noticed the trend that no matter which dealership you go to, AoA, the dealership, and tech associates are not on your side and will not touch the car unless there is a CEL. The only way around this, is to induce a CEL that would throw codes leading the tech to conclude that its a cam follower problem.

Saw the DIY before.. yeah, no thanks. Thought when you said check it there was a window or some easy way to check the tension on it w/out surgery.
