Large fuses in Aux Fuse Panel- Need Identification

I have been having some electrical problems and may have found the cause. The previous owner tapped into one of the 40AMP 32V fuses and its blown ,the wiring seems to be fine.
The fuse is in slot E right in footwell, bottom left
I just don't know the following:

1. what the fuse is suppose to be rated at?
2. What its for?

I will take a picture of its location.

All of the other fuses are 50AMP 32V

Any help would be great

Actually I have mine right next to me. Give me a little while to flip through it, if its not in there I can go through the elec bently i have as well.

is this pass or diver footwell?

The only thing that I can come up with right now, is the right a pillar connector station, I can't find anything else with an E location, and the right a pillar connector station's slot E should be open. Let me know where your looking at. I want to say that your looking on the drivers side foot well, where you have to drop the panel under the steering column and disconnect teh light and OBDII port, correct? If so im not showing a slot for E on the 13-fold relay panel, the 8-fold relay panel, and the micro central elec panel that resides in the driver footwell.

Thats correct, I'm looking down in the drivers side footwell

The order I see the fuses in:

D E F
[15a Normal Maxi] [??40Amp Large Maxi] [50Amp Large Maxi]

The E slot had a blown 40Amp large maxi fuse.

Ill look it up some more when I get back to the house today. Ill be posting up some Bentley info to see if either im not following correctly, or if either of us is confused. I dont have a physical 13-fold relay panel to look at, so Im stuck with bentley pictures. I should post this infor up around 4-5 this afternoon.

Alright, that is the 8-fold relay panel.
Slot F: is correct with a 50A fuse that is for the ABS module
Slot E: That should be a 40A Fuse for the Engine Cooling fan.
Slot D: is correct with a 5A fuse that is for the Engine Cooling Fan Control Module
Slot C: is the not used until 2002-2004
Slot B: 40A fuse for the Level Control system (should only be for allroad)

Yeah I love the car, but it just isnt the old C5 I had. Dont, get me wrong, the car is great. Its just not my first love you know?

You two are in the same town? Thats pretty slick. The closest AZ'ers to me is about 20 minutes, then 30, then 45 away.

I totally understand, the B6 wasnt my first love either. If I could fit into a B5 comfortably longer then 1hr before my back starts to hurts (I'm 6'5) I'd keep the 96' A4 12v forever. The C5 is definitely growing on me though, its very comfortable and a great hauler. It carried over alot of what I liked from the C4's (size being the most important). The only draw back for me is the automatic transmission, I have been contemplating swapping a 5 or 6 speed manual, but cant justify it on a sub $1,000 car..

Did you ever replace the fuse? Just wondering if your election problems went away or not. . .

Yes I did, believe it or not, the transmission short to ground problem i was having went away. I found a few more spliced in wires, I have no idea what the previous owner had wired in. So many hot wires were taped and then grounded to either 40-50amp fuses, I think he wired in a vacuum cleaner :) I also found another Maxi that was blown and replaced it.

While on this topic again, I am wonder if I am missing an relays in this photo?

We in the same spot? Driver footwell? I don't have my bentley with me in mississippi. Ill call someone at home to get to the house and see what he can come up with.
