I have this on my B6. It does not work. It is hit or miss. Really really nice piece though, and Clint@RAI is a heck of a guy. Great customer service for sure. I'd get it. If it doesn't work, just get the secondary O2 coded out.

So the test pipe they advertise on here for getting rid of your "cat" with no check engine light doesn't clear your check engine light? interesting.

My car has been illegal for over a year..... all because of this stupid CEL cuz I have a test pipe. I have tried everything, I even went BT and was told unitronics could write it out, just to find out that my year(2002) is the only car they cant write the CAT out of. I haven't tried the j pipe but I have tried a extended nonfowler and I still get the code. I even replaced the rear 02. AHHHH its madning. let me know if you find a product that gives you any luuck.

the J-pipe does not remove the CEL, rather, it fools the O2 sensor so that it does not detect your high flow, or in your case, failing cat. If you want to pass emissions to my knowledge, you need to install this J-pipe or another form of 02 spacer, and then clear the CEL for the cat efficiency code and the J-pipe will keep it from coming back. Hope that clarifies things for you. I ran one for years and it worked fine, but I also had a tune that wrote out the Cat efficicency code.

gotcha. thanks for clearing that up

another question though....If i were to install this and unplug my battery (resetting the ECU) would that clear the code with the j pipe preventing it from coming back on as well? or could this only be done with a tune?

you can clear the code with a vag com or almost any obdII comunication device. will the J pipe keep the code from coming back? maybe

Correct, this is the easiest and best way to go I would say. OP, yes you can unplug your battery for i think 20 minutes? but you then lose your radio presets etc. Its a lot easier to go to Autozone and have them scan the car/clear the codes. The J pipe keeps the code from coming back. Glad I could clear that up for you.
