Do not buy atp made turbos

Just want to give you guys a heads up. I have had the ATP 350 kit on my car for a little over a year now and saturday i realized it snapped at the casting for the exhaust housing. I gave them a call and they pretty much told me i was shit out of luck unless i bought something else off them.. no thanks.
I am slightly mad but i cant do anything about it now. I will be going bigger so expect to hear good things from my end in the future.
Just wanna let my fellow b7ers know what they are getting into should they decide to get a turbo built by ATP.

Sorry to hear that! Are the ATP turbo kits Made from re-manned K system turbos? It looks like thats a K systems manifold and maybe the compressor housing is different I'm not sure. I'm trying to think why It could fail and break off right there maybe the compressor side was off balance combined with a week casting.. GL with the fix I know a BT would look good in there

Im sure if its an unmodified garrett turbo it should be fine. The problem with mine is that ATP built it off a k03. I am.still putting an atp 3071 kit but its an unmodified turbo

Yes it is (mild K03 to Garett convertion)

sad to say i probably wont. i will have all the hardware but i wont have the money to tune it. so ill be in show, broken turbo and all. maybe ill use the gt3071 and the manifold as hood props lol

Seriousry ATP, help the guy out. It's obviousry a crap turbo and you should stand by your customers in a situation like this. He decided to give your company a chance by buying that kit, and now you should be returning that favor.

Everything else aside though, they probably would've helped you if they knew how good looking you are. Poor saps.

Kyle i specifically waited until i spoke with ATP personally until i made this post. I really dont have anything against the company. this is the only product ive ever bought from them. I hope the manifolds and downpipes last more than thier turbos do. but i plan on swapping that out eventually as well.
the only reason for posting this is because i had seen a lot of commotion lately regarding people going BT, i dont want what happened to me to happen to anyone else if i can avoid it.

yeah RAI does, makes me wonder why theres has been in development forever, while this ATP one already came out and was discontinued. they rushed it into the market IMO. and the crack looks to be where the enlarged the casting to fit the larger turbine wheel

Well, I hope so...although we have already run into a few issues (with the kit)...supplied turbo outlet pipe is rubbing against the starter motor (so thats not going to last), and they said the kit will be fine with a tiptronic. A few other custom parts need to be made in order for the kit to work.

then it was aboost leak, so as im trying to make a contraption to pressure test it. i notice the turbo is cracked. i was still making full boost. it only sounded like a leak after i held full boost for a second or two, again, really strange behavior

it sounds like an exhaust leak when im not a full boost, because the Wastegate is actually holding it together. then when the wastegate it opens it actually seperates teh turbo more making the loud boost leak sound

Why do I feel like you're not the only one who had issues with the ATP turbo/manifold cracking? I thought there was someone else (maybe more?) with the same issue, in addition to the handful with fubar'ed cars because of the tuning issues.

But at least you have the right mentality: When life gives you lemons, go big.
