    2010 & 2011 S4 Count in the US

    I was curious to know how many B8 S4 models are in the US, so I called AoA. After a couple of days of research, the service rep got back to me today (really good customer service, BTW):

    MY2010 = 3,899 models sold in the US
    MY2011 = 3,631 models sold in the US to-date

    Pretty exclusive numbers. Would be interesting to know how this compares to other Audi models & competitors. I know that Audi hit 2 million cars sold back in July.

    Anyway, thought you guys would like to know...

    Is that US or North America? Looks like North America to me.

    Well, definitely cannot compare to BMW's sales. When you say 2 million cars, that's over how long? I remember reading BMW hit 1 million cars sold in a year...

    I believe it's only US (excludes Canada) - All the press releases that I've seen re: production volumes have been US only. Example (note that S4 numbers are included in the A4 numbers):

    2 millionth cars:

    How are the numbers for 2010 and 2011 so similar considering people have only been getting their 2011s for a few months???

    That depends on how things are being tallied. IIRC, in the United States manufacturers book sales based on dealership deliveries to buyers, not on vehicles shipped, otherwise the numbers would be substantially higher across the auto landscape (eg: most manufacturers have between 40 - 70 days of inventory sitting on lots)

    I highly doubt that figure is representative of preorders. I think those numbers are fishy. Given how many people have 2011 S4s (not that many) I highly doubt the sales figures are almost identical between 2010 and 2011. Maybe next May they would be.
