    Electric Fans and Allroad idea

As I determined last night, my electric radiator fan doesn't work (applied 12v to both fans, the A/C fan works, and the other is dead), and I'd like to find a replacement.

Also, are there any good drop-in electric fans to replace the belt-driven clutch fan? I know the allroad came equipped with one, but I'm unaware of whether or not it will easily bolt into the shroud. I've never had any problems overheating except when sitting still on the hottest days of the summer, but I'd like to take care of it now so it's not a problem next summer.

Since the radiator fan was dead and the A/C fan only operates at top speed, I'm thinking that my module may be bad as well. Does anyone have any good tests for the fan control module? If I decide to run two electric radiator fans, will I need the Allroad control module instead, or is it not that simple?

i'm not sure what electric fan your referring to on the allroad, it came equipped with the same clutch fan as the 2.7t a6.

Vast performance sells a nice electric fan kit for 2.7t equipped vehicles. you could use one of these kits pretty easily. the only thing you might have to do is make a different cover to replace the fan pulley if the one supplied doesn't fit. i've had the medium flow kit installed for about two years without any issues. always had very consistent coolant temps even on 95+ degree days.

I was under the impression that the 4.2 Allroad got 2 electric radiator fans. Not so?

it has one small electric fan, the clutch fan, and the A/C fan.

i replaced the clutch fan and A/C fan with the VAST fan kit. the way it's wired it comes on with the A/C and whenever the oil temp gets above 180 degrees.
