    Reinstalling Stock Intake

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,
I need some help on reinstallation.
I recently changed the intake of my S4 to the Stratmosphere one.
but today, the dealer called me for a service next week.
Should I keep the Stratmosphere on or should I remove it and replace it with the stock one
This is the first Euro-car I modded and I'm not sure if I should keep the Stratmosphere on because I'm afraid they might void the warranty in the future if something happens

Any suggestions? If so, do you guys know where I can get the instruction to reinstall it. I'm not so technical

I had the intake, short shifter, aftermarket rims and miltek full non-resonated exhaust at my 5k service. They could care less at my dealership.

they do not care, jus leave it on. there is hardly any chance that an intake would do dmg to anythin 99% of the time. unless installed wrong of course.

If that is your only mod, I would just leave it on. Left mine on for my 5k service, they didn't even mention anything about it when I picked my car up.

They don't care. I just had service done last week. The service guy recommended I switch back to stock for the winter just so all the salt and sand doesn't get in.
    It doesn't void any warranty.

7200 miles during development of the intake were in snow/salt/sand weather, just like Ottawa. The filter can handle it, but its best to replace it come spring.
Backing up every one else, our Strat Intake, Strat Shifter, Full Milltek Non-Res, and APR tune have been through the dealer multiple times. No issues.

Look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Your warranty can't be voided solely on the basis of having an aftermarket part installed. Warranty coverage can only be denied if it can be proven that the part directly contributed to the problem, and then warranty coverage can only be denied for that specific failure.

Same dealer I use, one of the techs came up to ask me about it - not because they thought there was a problem, but because they had never seen one and he wanted to tell me how cool it sounded with letting some of the SC whine out.

I don't think that warranty applies for me since I live in Canada, i admit I'm kind of chicken here, but it's my first euro car Im modding and I don't want to take a bug risk. I guess I'll just leave it on for service and get a backup intake for spring

Personally I think it's always prudent to return to stock.

THe Magnuson moss act is great in theory, unfortunately the implementation is completely bass-ackwards. The dealership can and will void warranty work at their discretion. AoA can force them to do the work, however, such things usually require lots of time, effort and possibly money for legal representation. In effect the situation puts the burden of proof on the customer which is entirely backwards from what the warrany act specifies. Due to the time and cost most poeple cave and pop for the work themselves.

I did to remove the SC whine for drive by's on my APR exhaust that people wanted video of. It's as simple as putting the Strat one on, the hardest part is reversing the zip tie on the breather, the rest fits right back together in a snap.

If you've removed the stock box, the filter comes out with it. Replacing the OEM box without the filter is NOT something you should do.
The Strat intake replaces the entire OEM intake assembly.

Unless I totally misunderstood what you meant!

I believe he means the filter on the breather tube, in which case, you have to leave that off, it connects to the bottom of the stock airbox.

I have the AWE intake. I am more just asking if anyone with this intake changes back to the stock hose or if they also replace the filter in the airbox. I understand that if you have the Strat then my question would not make sense.

I have the AWE intake and just dropped my car off on Monday for the stasis tune! I actually have an AWE license plate frame and the service advisor was asking me if I had an exhaust. I told him I did not but had the intake kit on and asked him if they had any issue with that and if I shoudl remove it.

He seemed casual about it and said that no, that wasn't a problem at all. Obviously this is not proof they are lenient on minor mods but it seems like an intake or exhaust is not something they will be too hard about. I'm also local to you(about 1 mile from k1 speed cbad) so this is also a dealership you could use too.

If you want to be very prudent I would just replace the stock intake elbow and leave the high flow filter. That should take all of 5 minutes and they they will never notice that you don't have the stock filter. And even if you do they shouldn't give you any warranty hassle about it.

Nick has been my guy for the last few years while I had my 08 audi tt 2.0t. When I went in to pick up my s4 he was telling me how I should get stasis.

Once I get my ride back I'd definitely be up to let you take it for a drive to see if you like it.... though I may not let you use launch control. ;)

yea but try saying that to the dealership. It just doesn't work like that. If they find out you have a tune, they WILL void your drivetrain warranty. Trust me i own a 335i and we go through these problems all the time. They may overlook it but you are running the risk, so its up to you if its worth your time to take the mods off.
