Question question on timing belt service

i plan on doing the TB on my next oil change....i already got 2 prices for the job...one from the dealer ($2400) and another for a very high reputable shop in town ($1300)....the only difference in what the job actually consists from the two is that the dealership is changing out all the seals (i guess it would be the cam, crank and oil pump seals) and without the oil change...the other shop told me that they would ONLY change the seals if they are leaking....now my question is....how important is it to do those seals? should i even bother telling the shop to do them regardless wether they are leaking or not? i got about 2k miles till i havta go and get this done so i'm not really in a rush but id like to kno for when the time comes...

If you are going to do the job do it right and change all the seals whether they are leaking or not. Even if they are not leaking at the time of the service, who's to say that they won't leak a month from the service. I did my two months ago & changed everything.

yea i hear that....the only reason y i didnt press the issue at the moment is that the shop is known for working on high end porsches and shit....so i figured i'd take the guys word for it but ill let him kno when the time gets closer that i wanna get everything done....

also, does anyone kno if pulleys do anything for our cars or is it pointless?
