    VMR's disappointing service

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had contacted VMR through audizine and spoke to a guy named Mike hoping to buy a test pipe. The ad seemed pretty tempting as it stated [test pipe 70$ and shipped to any location in the USA]. I figured it was a pretty good price so since i live in canada i asked the guy for a quote to ship to canada. Turns out it would be costing me 108$ using the best carrier from USA to canada being USPS. I was disappointed that i would have to pay 55% more than everyone else just for the shipping costs so i politely asked if i could round it off at least to 100$ shipped and call it a day. Well i was told that it wouldn't happen and that we had previously "agreed" to 108$. I didn't push it any further so i proceeded to make my order through by sending my money with paypal.

On the 21st i sent the money and got a confirmation e-mail saying that it would be sent out directly the next day. I went ahead and made appointments with my mechanic to install the part and a separate appointment with a modding garage to remap the car. On the 24-25 i was curious to know if i would at least be getting a tracking number since the package should have already been shipped and that's when i was informed that:
"Your item was supposed to go out Friday, but there was a problem with your order. One of our warehouse guys told me that there was a mistake in our system and we actually do not have anymore of these test pipes. So basically, we have them in stock in our system, but the warehouse was not able to find anymore of these pipes. And at the moment I do not know when we will be receiving more of them. So i'm sorry but your order is going to have to be cancelled. You will get a refund either later today or early tomorrow morning for the full amount ($108.57). " [email received the 25th]

Well now that put me in an awkward situation...i paid them on the 21st, the order was supposed to go out on the 22nd, and i waited...until i ended up emailing them for some confirmation of some sort and got a reply like that...I wonder how long it would've taken them to tell me they didn't have anymore if i hadn't asked for a tracking number. Basically i had to cancel 2 appointments, i got the refund on the 27 (2 days later, but that might be paypal being slow...trying to give VMR the benefit of the doubt here), i still don't have a test pipe, and they weren't able to tell me when i'd be able to re-order another one.

I took the liberty of asking Mike if he could notify me when they get more, but i hope i won't have to be the one to send the email in 3 weeks asking if they finally got them and getting the answer "yeah we received them 2 weeks ago."

Definitely sucks for you. Watch the classifieds for some other deals on test pipes.

Dude chill... I bought a test pipe from eurocode tuning which was the atp one for like $150 and then I had my whole car completely apart to change the pipe and downpipe and the pipe was made wrong. So I had to send it all the way back to california from massachusetts and then wait for a refund to buy the vmr test pipe with heatshield. which cost like $180 plus shipping. Just spend some money on another test pipe. My problem was like a 2 week thing and my car was taken apart. VMR is a great company, just find another pipe you want and buy it.

I get what your saying, i might not have the worst problem out there, but it's still disappointing nonetheless. I felt like i got pushed around and to me that wasn't a great service. I haven't got a problem with their products, i heard they were great which was the reason why i wanted to buy from them in the first place. But i thought i should send a little heads up to everyone on the forum about their customer care issues. And also to let people know that they won't be receiving test pipes for an undetermined amount of time. (i apologize if it sounds rude)

Sucks for you, but at least you got your money back. This is a problem associated with their stock management software and has little to do with their service.

As an advise for you next time you order something for your car from the states, you should always wait until you get the parts in the mail and then proceed to book an appointment with your mechanic. You simply don't know how long the package would sit at the border for. Ask me how I know...

i thought that at one point VMR made test pipes but about a year ago they stopped putting them up on the site? i've had a hard time finding the vmr test pipes. anyways other then the time you waited ( a couple of days) to get the emails i would say that they were honest with you and that things like mixed up inventory happen

yea its dissapointing, but at least you got a reasonable response, in a reasonble amount of time, and they refunded you entirely. some companies do not do that kind of thing

In all seriousness, it sounds as though they could have been a little more proactive to inform you instead of you having to find out by calling, but they did make good on their end pretty quickly. In the world or ordering and purchasing, things don't happen immediately. A two day refund period is pretty quick if you ask me.

italiano11 - I'd like to apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced, on behalf of both Mike and VMR.

I believe the price you may have initially seen was the shipped price within the Continental US, sorry if there was any misunderstanding!

I think the real source of confusion lies in the fact that VMR is closed for weekends - I believe your payment was received on Thursday the 21st and scheduled to ship out Friday the 22nd. After looking all day on Friday, the warehouse guys weren't able to locate the piece, and we thought we may have more luck Monday. It wasn't until Monday the 25th, that we discovered the error in our inventory system, subsequently responding to your email and soon after initiating the refund for your order in full, though it sometimes does take 2-3 days to clear.

Again, I want to apologize for the inconvenience - if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me directly!

    -Matt

Well no harm done. I definitely appreciate the apology. I didn't mean to be offensive either, i was just bummed by more than one thing...call it a coincidence or something, i don't know. I'm not sure what to do now though, i'm still looking for a test pipe...

Dude, I say your expectations are too high. I hate buyers like u when I have to deal with them. Did u ever run any kind of business yourself? Sometimes it happens that things go out of stock without u knowing about it. Even if u have all the parts in your bedroom, something can go missing. U probably are a young kid, who just started buying things in places other than your local Walmart, so you have not had experience with some real life shitty customer service, so u complaining about VMR. I say in this case u got very decent customer service and Paypal does take few days to refund your money, depending on source u used to pay (u dont even know it???).
So stop making stupid threads and grow up.

You think a 3-4 day span is bad to hear back from a well known, excellent service company. Try not hearing from a company about back-order and out of stock for 2-3 months (emails and phone calls placed weekly). Shit like this happens all the time bro. If you received terrible service or got scammed I can understand your venting. But don't go putting down a very reputable company when it's something so small as this.

The point is he knew they had none in stock as of the friday, and i wrote an e-mail on the following tuesday for a tracking number and that's when he said they didn't have anymore. It's all sorted out now but i was just mad that he couldn't tell me in advance what was going on. he re-explained himself better in this thread and i thanked him for it.

i only found out that they continued checking on monday after starting this thread...until now, they seemed to have known that they had none left on the friday and never bothered to tell me.

RE the US vs Canada thing...... that goes both ways. there are issues with shipping and customs "services" fees etc blah blah both coming and going for "international" orders. Deal with it. This is reality.
