Am I the only one who is happy that I went with an MT6? I debated a long time before ordering the MT6. Please don't get me wrong, I'm sure the DSG is a great piece of engeneering and very efficient but it looks like there's room for improvement.

I supose that the good thing about DSG is that it can probably be improved through firmware updates.

I debated a long time before going with the dsg and I couldnt be happier. The MT6 was awesome as well but I just loved how the DSG rewarded you the harder you drove it. Both awesome trannies.

the cool feature of 6MT is the RPM limiter, put in 1st gear, floor the gas (it will stay at about 4000RPM) pop the clutch and lose traction on all 4 tires, lovin it!))) Only did this once thought...i dunno how many hard launches that clutch will take, not planing to find out
with the MT...in heavy traffic I'm haiting life... but on a twisty, windy back roads I just have the best time of my life

I am happy with my 6MT. I do not have anything against the S-Tronic. Just prefer driving manuals.

No doubt..... High rpm launch dumps and slips are fun.... I've cut a 1.74 60ft time in this slushbox! LOL DSG is very fun in driving on twisties and backroads as you really can control the shifts and it acts very similar to the manual just faster....

this is my 2nd 6MT. I have not been impressed with the S-Tronic loaners I have had and the Porshe tech is new to Audi so I am glad that I again went with a 6MT in my new S4

I love the quick 2-3 gear down shifts in the back roads here in ohio...How quickly it shifts and rev matches still amazes me

Don't get me wrong, I do believe the DSG is a great tranny, all I'm saying is that there are a few threads poping up with irritations and/or problems being raised. I'm just happy I'm not in that group (this time around). We'll talk in 3 years on my next lease...

I am very happy with the DSG, but I wish the DIS always show what gear it was in.

They're all minor and no different than when DSG was first used in the MKV GTI. Software will be revised, someone will add launch control and weird shifts will end as they get it sorted out. Then comes the higher limiters and then clutch packs and then automatics beating 6spds

I agree with you, I'm not trying to say that people that decided on DSG wished they had gone with MT6 or viceversa or that anyone with a DSG was unhappy with their choice. Like many, I was on the fence when I made my descision on the type of tranny to get.

Once Audi sorts out all these minor issues and adds launch control (in the B9 mybe) or a tuner comes up to the plate with a DSG tune it'll be the end of the 3rd pedal. I predict 35mm vs digital DSL repeat...

Nice! Looking forward to your results.... Your stock, correct? If you do a 4.5K slip you should see 1.8x 60's and with a tune 1.7x's should be no problem.... Maybe 1.6x's.... Keep us posted....

as far as the OP...last wednesday I was driving from Boston to DC. I got stuck in traffic for an hour in CT, but when it broke up I was sailing. My wife happened to call when I was at the top of the GW Bridge and I glanced at the clock: 4:12 (PM). A minute or two later I came to a halt. It was 6:52 when I was even with the last crane at the Newark container port and traffic began to move. Two hours and forty minutes to go approximately 15 miles. If I had a 6MT I would have had to shoot myself and my gimpy left knee would have been screaming. As it was, I cranked up the tunes, shot the shit with fellow drivers, snacked, made phone calls and played games on my Droid and drove a few feet occasionally. I love you, DSG.

You have a good point. This is the type of situation that was making me consider a DSG. Nevertheless, I still stand be my comments, the recent discussions have helped me not regret my descision!

Comming from 4 past MT cars, i must say I was a bit hesitant to dive in the DSG "pool". But I must say that I am very pleased I did !
It truly is the best of both worlds as it can be in a way even sportier than a manual tranny (think of F1 spirited paddle shifting driving) and it can be very mellow in dense traffic.
I just love the DSG !

So the only reason I got the DSG was because I tore my knee ligaments on the left leg and manual was becoming too painful for me especially in the scooby. It has taken me about 4 months to fall in love with the S4 and the DSG, I sorely miss driving a manual but this DSG is seriously wicked, and I drive the car in dynamic 99% of the time and I dig the roughness and the smoothness feels so awesome! This car with the S-Tronic is phenomenal!

Love the DSG. Have always driven manual cars, but recently got fed up of the traffic in Montreal....clutch in...clutch out crawl...clutch in.....clutch out crawl. You get the picture.

Had the opportunity to track the car, and the DSG was superb. Downshifting and braking at the same time, and always being in the right gear was absolutely great.
