    New wheels ** 30 or 45 offset?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ordering a set of RS6 reps, 18x8. The stock Avus III wheels 18x8 +45. I have the option of a +30 offset or +45. Tires are 245/40R18 if it matters. Stock suspension, DD. I have dedicated track wheels. I have read that too much offset stresses wheel bearings and steering knuckles since the scrub angle changes.

    Do I want +30 or +45?

So they'd stick out 15mm further, right? (aka wider track)

Is it going to look noticeably different? 15mm on each side is not much (0.6")

I would definitely go with the et30. This is what you'll end up with.

    18x8 et30, 225/40 tires

How close are those 245 tires to the fenders now. I remember looking at a B6 for sale last year and it has 245/40-18 tires on the stock rims and they looked pretty beefy and they weew sticking out a lot more than the stock tires. I don't remember what brand and model they were but I do know that not all tires are the same.

Found this post where someone has 245/40-18 tires with 18x8 rims and 35mm offset and he had to roll the front fenders because of rubbing.

He was at stock ride height too when he was rubbing wasn't he? PM him or something to find out for sure but that's what it seemed like to me.

Personally I'd go for +45. A little wider looks nice in photos but it looks kind of dumb in person. When I bought my A4 it had RS4 reps that were too wide, and it looked like aftermarket gone wrong. How would you stress any steering components by going with the same offset as stock?

Are these for winter wheels? If so I would go with the 45's for sure. No sense in slinging any more salt, sand, and ice than you have to.
