    996 calipers

I have a set of 996 calipers and am trying to find out what size rotors would be optimum to use. I have searched and researched and have found a range from 312mm to 340mm. Also I have some stoptech steel braided lines that I bought a while back that I have'nt installed yet. Will they work with these calipers? Any help would greatly appreciated. TIA

I remember reading on some other forum that a guy used 312mm rotors, idk if its optimal but it worked fine. As for brake lines im pretty sure they should work, check the length and all i guess...

hmm i thought the 996 calipers only worked with 321mm or somthinng like that... I may be thinking of b6 s4 brakes though...

Do you need adapters for the 996 calipers to bolt on to the hub?

I really think there needs to be a Porsche brake FAQ that has what calipers go with what rotors, what calipers to be flipped side to side due to piston sizes or something if I remember, and who makes what adapter that doesn't brake like we have seen with some ECS upgrades.

Going with porsche calipers, you have to keep in mind the rotor offset as well, where the caliper bracket places the caliper centerline and make sure it lines up with the rotor. I would go with the rotor size that was intended for the caliper.

Also, the idea of just throwing on random calipers that just happen to fit our cars, isn't always the best idea.

BTW goodridge's part numbers for stainless steel lines for porsches and audi's is different. I would think this would mean a design difference in the calipers as well. I would not assume the stoptech lines will fit.

    DITTO

also, not trying to thread jack or anything
But do rear and front brakes from 97-04 Boxster can be bolt on directly to our cars?

Is the rear porsche calipers even worth it to buy?

You need brackets. Honestly, 95% of the people I see asking about porsche brakes on their cars are doing it more for looks than anything else or the perception that they will be the be all brake that they need. The B6/7 S4 upgrade will get you to 99% of what you want and not throw off brake bias significantly. The larger porsche calipers could throw off bias, pedal travel, and overall feel.

Also, honestly some dedicated rear setups for our cars aren't really that much. Case in point, the stasis rear alcon brake kit, $895. You get a lot for what you pay:

    Goodridge rear SS lines
    2 piece rotors
    2 new carriers
    brake pads
    fluid
    Baller status

Of course if you want to buy the matching front kit, then it gets a little pricier......
