I'm about to be doing my timing belt and not sure which kit to get, I've heard some bad things about the ECS ultimate kit.

You know where my vote falls! We've sold literally thousands of our timing belt kits. If there's any questions I can answers about our kits, I'd be happy to.

Blauparts seemed to have the most in their kit for the best price, free shipping when I bought it too, not sure if they are still running that promotion or not.

    They are: http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail....d=GH21102%2D1A

I'm a big supporter of ECS but other than the extra bottle of coolant, instructions and free shipping what is the difference between these two packages? I'm going to be buying a kit in the next few months so if ECS can sell it to me here I would be happy to buy it in the future.

We've also sold hundreds of our kits. They're quite popular with all OE components..

I was planning on commenting about MJM Autohaus, as they have great prices. But actually I'm going with Blauparts on this one.

Their kit is the most complete including lots of stuff ECS and MJM do not (for the same price or less):
    - Thermostat housing and clamp (this is plastic, so replacement is a good idea)
    - Intermediate shaft o-ring
    - Intermediate shaft seal
    - new bolts for t-stat housing and water pump
    - new bolts for crank pulley (these are often nearly rounded out getting them off)
    - Free gift package (not sure what that could be, but interesting!)

And, FWIW, the coolant amount is the same across the board. The bottles are 1.5 liters, so 2 bottles is 3 liters.

And, unless I missed it, PureMS doesn't seem to have anything more than a basic kit, which doesn't even include a water pump. IMO, they should put one together. Nobody wants to track down all this crap when they do the job. Especially with all the different stuff for the different engine codes (different water pumps, different belts, seals, etc). It would be exceedingly tedious. They just want to buy all the stuff at once and get to work. Just IMO. I love PureMS, though. I've got suspension from them and they were very helpful when I was considering a chip-tune purchase. Great people.

EDIT: I *did* miss it. PureMS does have the extra kit stuff. See Post #12. They'll even put together a custom kit for you with only the stuff you want, which is awesome. I'm changing my vote to PureMS!

I'm thinking blauparts on this one as well, still nothing you can say about this ECS?

I'm hoping that free gift package is a midget in a box that can put the kit together for me while i sit back and drink a beer!

We offer 2 kits, just a basic kit of the timing components, and a full kit which adds the belts, thermostat and water pump. It's an option in the drop down when you add to your car.

We don't include seals and gaskets and coolant because these are many times just unnecessary items or simply add to the shipping cost. We prefer to let the customers select what they NEED, and not force them to buy parts they won't use. Most people also have coolant around and don't want to additional expense of having to ship something that's quite so heavy.

If you need a special kit designed just for you with certain seals, gaskets, and such, just contact us. We're always able to put together a special kit just for your application.

They are very complete however when i purchased a kit for my AWM they sent me wrong belts and almost every part in that kit failed in one way or another. The belts that where the right ones shredded in less then 10K miles, the tensioner failed in 4 months, the timing belt was trashed when the tensioner failed and the only part that was good was the water pump. As others have said the extra seals and the like was nice but i did not use a one of them because they where not needed.

We have adjusted our pricing to be a little more aggressive in the timing belt market - same high quality components, NEW LOWER PRICE - Check it out.
