Anybody else take the B6 passat roof rack path from ecs and modified them to fit your b7 and then got the ski and snowboarder holders from ecs as well?

Already saw yours darin1274 looks good.

Hells yes! Steal of a deal on that rack and not a whole lot of effort to modify it. I ordered a Thule Atlantis 1200 in black to go on mine instead of racks to protect the boards from salt and whatnot. Plus you can throw a ton of other crap in there.

But it's half the price if you mod it yourself.

Sick. And yeah, if you modify it yourself it costs half the price. $149.99 for it already modded or 74.99 if you cut up the bars yourself. which is simple.

the thule 1200 is just not my piece of pie. it kind of looks bulky to me, but to each his own. anyways im gonna be gettin this setup soon.

will post pics up! thanks guys.

Ordered the stock Passat bars and did the conversion my self took about an hour and a half. I ordered a used Barrecrafters ski and snow board rack off of ebay for $30 and got a Thule faring on sale at ski stop for $55. Windham mountain is only 40 minutes from school and i get a season pass for $269 with a student discount. Windham opens November 23rd cant wait.

My boards Burton bullet 164w and Nitro target 157 both with burton freestyle bindings.

You use the Thule aero clips and trim the front part that extends over the top of the bars and thy just clip on. I also screwed mine down but you cou probably get away with out doing it. I tested it to 100+ and it was fine. hope this helped

I did the same thing as you basically but i still hear wind noise... I attached the fairing at the actual hole not the clip area, therefore my fairing sits quite a ways back. Will it help reduce noise if i do what you did?

I dont think it will make that much of a difference. It's still a little noisy but its allot quieter than just the bars.

Can anyone point me in the direction to a thread that shows what needs to be modded on the B6 passat bars to make it work on our cars? I'd love to get my Rome's strapped to my roof soon!

Also youngcotter, do you have any side shots of your car with the thule fairing modded to fit? It look like it sticks out a bit so im just curious how it looks.

    Thanks!

What part number fairing do you have? I checked and there are a few different 38" Thule fairings out there.
