    Headlight Bulbs

I recently did the joey mod and am now working on getting all new bulbs. My plan is to run DDM 55w 4500's in the low beam. I originally wanted to run 3000's in the high beams, but I read quite a few people recommending just plain yellow bulbs instead of an hid kit? Can someone explain that reasoning? I also plan on doing yellow fog lights as well. The fogs I plan on just regular bulbs.

Last question I have, what kind of turn signal bulbs does anyone recommend? I removed the amber lens and don't think I will like the look of an orange bulb. Is it illegal to run a turn signal bulb that is not orange!? I should mention my headlights are stock halogen housings.

I would appreciate any helpful information. Pictures are always great too.

I'd say do 5000k or 6000k lows if your going to do 55w and not 35w because it washes out the color more with the 55w kit. So 4500k is going to look more yellow halogeny look, instead of a nice crisp white HID look

Probably not worth running HID in the high beams as with 55w lows you will probably not ever even need it (even on country roads)

Instead do 35w 3000k fogs for nice yellow ones, dont do halogen.

For your turn signal bulb you can either spray the orange bulbs very lightly with engine enamel silver, they will still flash orange but not give you the orange look. This is really cheap and easy diy.

    or

You can get chrome turn signal bulbs.

I do read about the 55w kits "washing out" the color. Not exactly sure what that is all about. I am after a crisp WHITE output with little to no blue. Maybe I am better off in the 6000k range like you suggest. Can anyone comment on the color of the DDM 55w kits?

    Thanks for the response A4.Rob

55w 6000k still has a "slight" blue tint (i'm currently running that exact set up). If you want just white i would go with 55W 5000k.

If you are ordering from ddm this is what it says on their site..

What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
Our 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w kits.
The 55W system ballasts are about 1 cm longer than the 35W ballasts.
55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit).
Our 55w HID Kit is not recommended for smaller fog light housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area.

"slight" blue may be ok for me. Do you have any pics? I am after a clean, crisp look.

I'm still debating the halogen vs hid for the fogs....

I recently burned up some wires on my sport bike using a ddm kit. I'd recommended spending some time over on hidplanet to figure out the best route. I know I learned that I'll only go with oem quality stuff from now on. It is possible to get osram ds2 bulbs to work with pretty good results in our valeo halogen housings.

Use OSRAM Diadem bulbs for the front turn signals. They are high quality lamps, silver colored when OFF, Amber colored when ON.

I just bought my second B6 yesterday (first one totaled by drunk driver where it was parked in my Avatar) and it doesn't have HIDs like my last one did. I'm about to order a kit from DDM and want to know which bulb type do i need?
