hows your tire tread, what was the temperature out side, what type of tires do u have, was there gravel on the road, all of thos have factors on how much traction you have. im not saying thats your problem but it could play a factor, im not the best electrical guy so some one else can chime in.

I always disable it when it rains or snows anyway... which is like 50% of the year at least lol

If you do a search here, you'll find the main reasons for the esp light coming on are a bad brake light switch/sensor (especially on the TIP cars-mine did this) the MAF, or trouble with the ABS. A low battery can also trigger that warning light, and so can very worn brake pads.

When you don't have a lot of traction the esp light will come on and it will try to keep the car in control... thus you won't be able to accelerate anymore than your current speed until the car detects that it has enough traction back... thats the point of the system... Thats why you have to shut it off to do a burn out... not that I can since I'm auto but on other cars vag products thats what I've had to do.

When you hard accelerate (or light accelerate depending on how bad the road is) and the tires start to slip, the ESP light should do a quick flash (on,off,on,off rapidly) basically confirming tracktion is minimal and tires are slipping.

Today was the first time it snowed here and when I would stomp on it this would happen. When i lay off and allow the tires to catch the light is off as per normal, it resumes to flashing once tracktion starts to slip again.
