    ECU swapping?!

I bought a ECU off the forums for my B6 A4 and its an AF box, where are before MY ECU is an E box.... Is there any way to make it work? With the new ECU I try and start the car and it will only turn over and the fans kick on... When I try to VAG it and select the ENGINE I get a no response from controller error... I can go into the IMMO and Instrument cluster..

Does anyone have any information that can help me?? Ive been searching for hours already!!!

The AF box is the ECU for an '03 A4 AMB 1.8T. I do know that a AF reflashed to the "04 AK firmware version works for '03 A4s too. I don't think it will work on an '02, I'm not sure. But regardless, since you can't communicate with the ECU via VCDS, OBDII, the ECU is defective. In order to adapt the immo to a new/used ECU, the dealer must do that with the car and both ECUs present.

I forgot to include that the IMMO is removed.. I just need a for sure answer so if I do have to get a refund than I can make it happen...

Yea thats what I was afraid of... Unlike the B5 S4 where the last letters can be different obviously mine you can't do that...

I switched ECU's no problem after the IMMO was removed! You obviously have to use vagcom to change the settings if it came off an auto and you have a manual! But after getting the IMMO removed it started right up and runs flawlessly!
