    Intrument Cluster Clear Plastic

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This past weekend I tore apart my Instrument Cluster because the plastic was really dirty and it annoyed the crap out of me. It was really easy to do but once I finally got it apart, I wasnt able to clean the glass well enough to my liking. There is some spotting that just wont clean off. Anyone know where I can get the front trim piece that includes the clear plastic? I cannot seem to find it on any of the normal websites where we can get OEM parts. I am sure the stealership will just bend me over. Any pointing in the right direction is greatly appreciated!!

    Mike

If I'm not mistaken it's not glass, but a clear polycarbonate (plastic). There are various plastic polishing compounds that can be used to get plastics optically clear. You would need to purchase a couple of different compounds and some soft buffing pads for a low speed orbital polisher.

Get scratch remover compound and clean cloth, rubber in like you would wax a car and the spot should disappear, that is cheap alternative, dealer will sell you new cluster, they don't sell just plastic, ebay is your friend

don't know if it works, but that headlight cleaner sh*t might also fix it (if that stuff really works)...you know, the kind that is supposed to clear up scratched headlight lenses/housings.
For future reference, don't use harsh paper on the cluster, microfibre rags work better and won't scratch it.
