Turning car phone into something useful

The car phone provision in my stock stereo is nice, but it's obsolete. I'd like to make use of the functionality and the neat little cable, but I thought I'd see if anybody had done something similar before I go hacking things up. Any suggestions? Maybe connect my iphone, charge it, and play the music and have phone conversations over the stereo?

Pop the jack out of the centre console and use it as a handy pre-drilled hole to run an iPod cable up into the console. You're might be able to fabricate an iPod charger cable that has an RJ-11 plug to charge your iPod/iPhone but it's certainly not going to integrate with the stereo via the phone wiring.
