    Rim size/tire question - winter

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am looking at getting this rim:
    http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Price

For winter but just noticed it's an 8.5 - thought it was an 8"

I will be running this tire in 225/45/18
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....cleSearch=true

Will there be any issues? Should I look for an 8" rim? Any pros/cons?

I am not a wheel/tire expert - any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks
    JJ

a 225 on an 8.5" will have a bit of a stretched look which may or may not be to your tastes, one con of this would be that you will have no tire protection of the rim against curbing.

You are at the rim width limit of a 225/45/18 tire. It might be a stretch. Also the offset is 38mm vs 47mm of a stock 18X8 rim. So you wheels will be sticking out a little further.

Another option I was looking at is:
    http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

It's an 8" but offset is 5mm - not sure how that would be.

I like the idea of not needing a centering ring etc so was trying to stick to something that doesn't but not too many options and these are just winter wheels

i'd use the rim in your first post, but with a 235x45, instead of the 225x45...fits the 8.5" rim better.

    the 18x8 5et offset...will not work...at all.
