Oily Coolant remains after oil cooler change.. advice?

I had this issue a while back, noticed it at my TB change around 70k and didnt think much of it; just thought it was a previous owner mix of green and pink.

Did a flush 2 months ago @ 100k cause the coolant turned brown again. Changed my oil cooler with this ECS one.

I have a slight leak from the rear coolant flange (I think thats what it is). When I did my clutch the tranny wasnt balanced too well and it popped up into the flange and some coolant shot out. I thought it was just because of the added pressure on the part from the tranny. Turns out the part is broken cause a few weeks later I get a low coolant light, and have been at a 2-3 week interval since.

Anywho.. topping the expansion tank this morning before work I noticed the coolant was Brown again .

Will a broken rear coolant flange cause oily coolant? I hope it will..

from my experience, i had an Automatic passat that did just what your describing, it turned out that the radiator was leaking the oil into the water system via a cracked pipe in there,

I've got oil in my coolant, not coolant in my oil. No powerloss at all, no smoke from exhaust, no over heating issues at all. Based on those blown HG symptoms I'm leaning on the no side for that.

there are only a select few places that coolant and oil can come into contact with enough volume that it would make your coolant brown. id say oil cooler but you already did that. otherwise hg is all i can think of. and just because you have a flaky hg doestn mean you will lose power immediately or burn coolant. maybe its just a slight flaw in the gasket. has your car ever overheated?
