Those with 3" TP & DP, or those with relocated "flex" section, post up pictures here

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
For those of you who have a 3inch testpipe and downpipe can you post a picture of your flex section under the car? How low it sticks out? Where it is located?

& Also for those who have the "flex" section relocated from the stock location. Post them up!

See my exhaust thread for the pics. Although my 'flex' is a bit further back from the factory location.

I just notice that all of my "mesh" material is also pretty much gone but no leaks as of yet. The exhaust is not even a year old.

Best way to check is go outside on a cold day or something, start your car and right away go out to passenger side and listen if it sounds sort of raspy. That's how i found out. When i looked under I saw the hot air coming down from there and pipes

FWIW the Manuals and Automatics have the stock flexpipe located in different spots. here is a picture comparing the two. Manual is on the left, Auto on the right:

The RAI downpipe puts the flex pipe more along the lines of where the you see it on the stock automatic dp
    http://www.raimotorsport.com/RAI-3-0...i-20man-dp.htm

whats that test pipe on the end of the automatic dp? hmmm

The manuals location looks like it will fit my setup perfectly. It is possible to do on the tiptronic?

unfortunately no. there is a huge difference in available room. the tip tranny is just too big. you could maybe fit the flex there if you weren't going to use bigger piping for your dp.

and nope, its just the pic. both exhausts use the same diameter pipe.

I have a 034 HFC, and a manual Neuspeed exhaust/downpipe (70mm so 2.76 inch) and it fits... but the bracket on the downpipe was cut-off to make it fit... and the flex is almost touching the tranny, but when you apply gas and the engine moves it does hit the flex... not a lot, but enough that is has some wear on it.

Maybe RS4 engine mounts would fix this...

Since were threadjacking... I have a 034 HFC and I am getting a full exhaust, but I need a custom downpipe since I have a CVT, what do my diameters need to be to fit the exhaust and the 034 HFC? Exhaust is 60mm piping. = 2.4 inches when rounded. What downpipe dia. would fit both ends?

Just make a 2.5" you would be fine. I have a 3" downpipe on my tiptronic, the CVT gearbox is not larger than tiptronic, is't?

I wouldn't say its giant? I'm going to get a custom one (I have to) since no one makes a DP for a CVT. I guess I'll go 2.5".

Bump. I'm debating selling my 3" testpipe and downpipe and acquiring a 2.5" again. Ripped the flex-pipe. Need ideas on where to put it since I'm a tiptronic

just fix the leak on your downpipe now, take it to an exhaust shop and see if they can change the angle of your lowest point so it doesnt get torn up...thats what i did with mine...have a 3 inch creative downpipe, and when i bought my exhaust, the lowest part kept getting banged up so i had a shop just change the angle so it could sit half inch higher

Hmmm I need to check on this, I have noticed lately that when I first start my car up it sounds a little noisier from the exhaust.

did you ever scrape up the flexpipe with the stock cat in? if not then you wont have any issues running our test pipe. It's the exact length of the stock cat.
