MFSW controls not working

ok well this is my first post i just bought a 08 audi a4 s line and before i got it i noticed that the steering wheel controls werent working i have the non bose symphony radio so the lights on the buttons are all working but non of the buttons work any ideas would be appreciated oh i hooked up a vag-com cable and i think under 16.steering and and scan it says not responding

oh i did do searchs to try and figure this out for the past week and if it will help i will get a screen shop of the code tomorrow

Does the horn work? Could be the clock spring or the module.

Do your volume and track search scroll wheels work? Mine do but the other function buttons don't work... Kinda shitty...

My 05.5 had the exact same thing going on with it when I first bought it. I pulled fuses looking to see if that might be the problem, they all looked fine but after putting them back in it worked for some reason. Might be worth a try to check them and might just fix it.

Could be the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo, then put the stock one back in, but jacked up the install?

Yeah the horn works the lights on the buttons work but none of the buttons work which is the two scrolls and the two other buttons

I will try the fuses I have already tried the ones I thought it might be I didn't try them all which ones did you pull

I don't remember which ones and I don't have the manual with me at the moment but I went through the manual and pulled anything that looked like it might be associated. I'll check for you in the am which ones they were.

Is the coding for module #16 Steering Wheel Electronics consistent with the options you actually see on the car? Since you are the 2nd or subsequent owner, perhaps the original owner removed RNS-E and didn't recode everything back properly. Other possibility could be loose connections to the buttons on the steering column itself. Let us know your coding. I have a full S-Line Avant with Bluetooth/Symphony II+ radio - my coding is 04042.

wait it took it but still the same code so probably a wire then but are there different plugs for the buttons and the lights in the buttons because like i said the lights work
