Best way to handle a bad secondary air injection pump?

My pump has finally seized after humming loudly for several months. I found the tech article to rebuild them on AW, but is it worth all the work? I see a new one is pretty pricey from ECS. Is there a better source with a better price?

Talk to Kompressed on here, he'll take care of your ECU for a very reasonable price. ;)

After that you can pull the entire setup out & pitch it in the trash.
There is a solenoid under the EGT sending unit bracket that activates the Combi valves, that needs to stay plugged in or a CEL will trigger. I pulled the Combi valves, all hoses, SAI pump, and fab'ed up my own plates to seal off the holes where the combi valves went. Opens up a ton of space in the bay behind the block, and quite a bit of shit I will never have to worry about again. (that alone is worth yanking it, lol)
After the ECU work there are no CELs, and I passed emissions no problem.

I looked it up, his name is "k0mpresd"
He is also easily found in the diy tuning thread.

When you pull the combi valves you will need to make a cover to seal the hole. It looks a lot like a 38mm wastegate mount, but smaller. I took the combi valve gasket & traced it onto a 1/8" piece of aluminum, cut out the shape & drilled 2 holes for mounting. Bolted down the same way the combi valves do, and reused the gaskets since they looked to be in great shape still.

Yank everything, cover the holes for the combi valves, & you will be fine just running with a CEL on.
ECU work is more for passing emissions, as well as preventing the CEL from being triggered because of it.
I prefer to know when a CEL is triggered, which cant really be done if the CEL is on 100% of the time.

I just did this earlier this month. I ordered the block off plate from integrated engineering. Runs fine minus the CEL. If you have apr and want your pump coded out your SOL, I talked to K0mpressed about it. You can have it done since your stock.

audiophyle, sorry for being such a noob but where is the diy tuning thread?? i tried searching for it but this forum is super confusing for me.

i don't see any block off plates listed for our cars from integrated engineering, but at the price they're asking i'd rather make my own anyway.

thanks for the link, gunsupplier...i just tried to read over that thread..didn't understand a word of it, lol.

they want 60 bucks for a pair, but they only list them as fitting 24V/R32...i think i'll make my own plates and send my ECU to whoever can reprogram it, clearly that part is way too complicated for me.
