A few questions, from what I understand it does the following

    1) Enables your phone to use the cars antenna for better reception
    2) Hardwired so you dont have to use blue tooth for voice calls
    3) Charges the phone

    What else does it do?
    How much does it cost?
Where can you buy it other then the dealership?
    What is required for install?

basicly it charges your phone, plays your MP3s through your stereo and gives you bluetooth hands free . depends on the unit you go for. custom is the best way... take it to a shop I don't think you should be working on it. i'd say it will run you atleast $90 basic set up to over $500 if you go custom. I have done MANY.

quick, generic and simple ones i used the most were Parrot units mostly for hands free bluetooth. also streams audio

The OEM iPhone cradle still requires the bluetooth prep. It does NOT hardwire the phone into.
