Take whole front end off to get behind grille??

So had my car taken to the shop today to get blue EMS grille lights put in behind the grille and they said that the only way they could be put in is to take the whole front end off and that it wouldn't be worth it for 7 hours of labor. The lights are about and 1" x 2", had them mounted on my old car no problem, but it wasnt an audi.
Wondering if there was anyway around this or if anyone had any suggestions. If not how hard is it to take off the front end and about how long would it take because im considering doing it myself. Thanks in advance

Its an 06 with a DTM front end and RS4 rep grille

Yes, you have to take off the bumper to get behind the grille. It definitely does not take 7 hours unless you are a moron. It is a little tricky at first, but not difficult. See this DIY:

I'm not very tool savy but that DIY really helped me out. Def follow it. Its a shame we need to remove the bumper to perform most work on our cars. GL with your modding.

actually, if you have the stock SMIC on, you need to remove the bumper, if you have a FMIC, then you should be able to reach the area from underneath the car without a problem.
