Audi S5 Sportsback

I'm starting this thread because I recently had contact with Audi to bring the idea of submitting the Audi S5 Sportsback into the U.S. Market. I want to know how many people would be seriously interested in purchasing this car if it were to become available in the U.S. market. I am currently in Germany and I see these rides everyday and I am so jealous that I can't take one home. This is just out of curiosity, to see how many people would actually be interested, but if I get enough hits then I'll submit it to Audi here and see what result comes of it.

I am sorry to say this, but the 4 door sportscoupe concept simply does nothing for me. IMO, the Sportsback will only eat into S4's sale and vice versa. I would much rather see Audi bring the S4 Avant over here to this side of the Atlantic pond instead.

I'd take one in a heart beat. But seeing that the A7 is coming...I doubt the A5 Sportback will ever make it to the US.

Oh it's not a concept. It exists here in Germany. And trust me when I say the pictures don't do it justice. In person, this car look tons better than the S4 believe me I own an A4 S-line. and if anyone is interested I am selling it for 33,000

I know the A5/S5 Sportsback exist, seen one in person too when I was at Munich earlier this year. I simply just don't care much for the "4 door sports coupes" or any other "Cross-overs". IMO, a 4 door coupe is a 4 door sedan, why pretend it is not and call it by another name ? Back in the 80's, Mazda called theirs a 5 door Touring sedan and so did Euro-Ford with their Merkur Scorpio, they don't try to insult the consumers by "creating" a new segment. Again, IMO, it not only dilutes the purity of the A5/S5 series but also cuts into the sales of the A4/S4 series. If one can not face the reality of owning and driving a sedan, I would say that he/she has something much more serious to worry about.

It's a 5 door liftback, hence the name Sportback.

Or a 4 door hatchback, you may have heard of those things too. You can call them whatever you want, it doesn't change what they are, a sedan.

i want one! if they were available here, i would consider one in a few years. someone on here has a nicely modified one (lowered, wheels, etc) and it is STUNNING. it's a whole different animal from the S4.. so much more sleek and sexy, imho.

Good luck with that, it will never come here in it's current iteration for the same reason the Scirocco won't. Something about the rear roof line won't meet US crash requirements. If you want the specifics I can ask again, but it's been about a year since I had that discussion with the then head of Audi PR in the US.

Why is the A7 coming here? It has a similar roofline to the A5 sportback, can't imagine there's alot of difference in them in the crash standards area.

Also, do you know why they don't bring the A3 or S3 2 door hatchback here? Would love to have the S3

I've sat in both and there is significantly more headroom clearance for rear seat passengers in the A7 than there is the A5 Sportback. It's about the interior clearances, not the shape of the roofline.

Why is the A7 coming here? It has a similar roofline to the A5 sportback, can't imagine there's alot of difference in them in the crash standards area.
