    Considering a TT purchase

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm seriously considering getting back to Audi (owned a 2005 A4).

I found a 2002 TT roadster, 225hp, Quattro, baseball interior with 73K miles. Looks great, but I haven't driven it yet. Any tips, encouragement, discouragement? Any suggestions as to a good price to offer?

    Thanks.

Great cars, not much room. Pricey parts but everything is. Power is moderate take few grand to get too 350hp where most sport cars start off from the assembly line. I love MY TT due to the fact they are getting rare! Not many out there being driven well the
MK1 TT's that is. Good Luck! Baseball leather is rare as well and looks good!

Get the repair/service records before you make a decision.

check the cluster function the LCD and if temp and fuel gauge work, otherwise it will cost you $300-$400 to get it fix all , if cluster is bad, check with local dealer how much it will cost to get replaced and programmed and offer that much less if it is bad

at 73K, should have had a timing belt and water pump done already. If not , it would to be done asap and cost around $1000. A tranny service would be smart also.

We have had a TT for 5 years now and it has been a pretty reliable car. we did the timing belt, tranny service, and water pump last year. At about 65,000 miles, we started having our first mechanical problems including the thermostat, both radiator fans, coolant temp sensor, a CV boot, and front sway bar bushings.

the 225 TT responds really well to stage 1 software. Had Revo stage 1 done on my friends 225hp TT, and it really woke it up. Feels nearly as fast as the new TTS.

If you have access to a lift, you'll have enough room to get under it and use a hammer and long flathead screw driver and won't need a haldex wrench. Place end of screwdrive on filter flat spot and tap with hammer to loosen/tighten.

Well, the car was sold right after I first posted, but the buyer's money fell through and it's still available. I'll probably drive it tomorrow.

Question: the steering wheel is not the same matching brown color as the seats and trim; it's more like black suede. All the pictures I've seen show a matching brown wheel; was there more than one choice?
