Hey guys, I'm new to the Audi community and I have a few questions.

Is the 1.8t motor a reliable engine for a new daily driver and how are they in terms of reliablity over 100,000 miles? I've heard that they run strong but want to ask the communtiy how reliable they really are. Also, if any body knows. What are the most common maintenance issues with the B5 A4?
All informationand advice is welcome and greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

as long as you keep up on oil changes with a quality oil and filter, as well as other regular scheduled maintenance, it can last plenty long. i know there are people on here with over 200,000 miles on the 1.8t

edit: make sure timing belt is done around 60k miles......or else

and here is a link to a plethora of info on the B5

I got 214k and still running strong! Tie rods, cv boots and when i had my stock exhaust the flex pipe likes to leak. Also, the rear coolant flange. This is what i encountered with mine but everybodys car wears differentyl according to their style of driving.
If i throw a dog a bone, i don't want to know if it tastes good or not. Keep that in mind when you do someone a favor.

    H&R race springs|Blown shocks|WMI kit|Forge 007|630cc injectors with Eurodyne mafless tune|2.5magnaflow custom exhaust|frount mount|FX400 6puck|Brute rods| AEB pistons|Hopes and dreams.

Also warm-up and cool down are important, don't skimp. You have to watch these cars like kids with adhd, well at least I do.

Thanks for the info guys. The car that i have in mind is a 1998 A4 with the 1.8t engine and manual transmission. It has 130,000 mile and is priced at $3,900. Is this a fair price?
