Is there a way to test your Auto Aim Headlights?

I noticed that my S4 got auto leveling headlights but personally i never see them adjusting themselves. On my buddies friends BMW they level as soon as he turns on the car and you can clearly can see the auto check. What about ours? How do they work?

They should sweep down to up every time you turn them on as they charge up.

If you have access to a Vag Com...you can do it through that.

All it does is it moves the headlights up and down...

I've never seen mine move at startup.

I think the cars with Xenons got them.

The BMW lights are "adaptive" you can see them move when you take a turn. Those self align at startup.

So i am a little confused then. Whats the point for our system? It goes up and down but what for? I mean on a regular car you level it once and you are done right?

it changes as the car tilts it is suttle at best if you are lowered, my stock ride hight avant moves more than my lowered sdn dose, as for why our cars have it is one more thing to break down the road lol

I guess if you have a heavy load in the back that pitches the front of the car up...the auto level will move the lights down.

as you drive up or down hills it adjusts the angle. I was driving up a big hill the other day and instead of the lights pointing out into the sky they aimed down at the ground.

In Europe it's required that all high intensity discharge headlights have an auto-leveling (or commonly called adaptive lighting) system linked to the suspension of the car.

The US requires all bi-xenon (this means the high beam is in the same lens as the low beam) headlights to have adapting headlights.

I only notice mine during startup, and only when I have been parked on a hill. Sometimes, if I'm stopped on a steep hill, it will adjust itself after a second or two.

Put a bunch of weight in the trunk, turn the car on, and you'll see them adjust.

From my understanding, the headlights will only auto adjust if they see a leveling difference.

It is very visible once you chip or go stage 1+ and you gun the car on low gear so that squats heavily. You will see the lights staying planted on the road instead shooting up the trees like a car without the leveling system would do.

mine never adusted so i unplugged my sensors and clean 10 years of dirt out of them. plugged them in and they started adjusting on their own. my problem was every start up my motor would just point straight up at the trees on my drivers side. that solved my problem

Mine adjust when I turn the lights on. It's very subtle, but definitely noticeable.

There's two of them, one in each headlight.
