Ko3 Turbo Question

Check out the picture of my turbo. It was making a drilling sound when operating, and eventually started blowing a lot of smoke. My question is, Are all Ko3 turbos compatible from different cars? They appear to all look the same? I am looking to purchase a used stock turbo from a MKIV Jetta, to put on my 1997 A4. Thanks for the input.

Nope, only K03's from the longitudinal platforms will work. However before you do anything, you need to figure out what your turbo ate. If not, it could very well happen again. Go over your intake tract with a fine tooth comb.

Dammit! Jetta's engine are transverse? Just curious, what is the difference in the turbos?

if you put the 2 side by side you notice the jetta k03 has a completely different exhaust housing.

the jetta turbo cold side points up (a4 ko3 points down) jetta hot side points straight back whereas the audi one points to the right of the cold side.

Compressor housing, turbine housing, you may be able to use the center section, but I wouldn't count on it. Far better to buy the right turbo, I think there's one in the classifieds.
