So I have this strange sound coming from my engine.. (Video)

OK.. So I'm sitting in my garage and hit the gas pedal a few times quickly and now notice this clunk sound emanating from the back of the engine.. Every time I hit the gas pedal with a quick tap (enough to reach about 2500rpm) I get the clunk right at pedal engagement..

It sounds a bit like the timing chain maybe losing slack and hitting the guide... Any ideas

It's hard to tell from the video, but that is definitely a possibility. But for it to happen all-of-a-sudden and not over time means its probably a problem with the cam chain tensioner. It's poosible the spring on the tensioner let loose. If that's the case I would not drive it at all. If that chain jumps a tooth or two you are looking at catastophic failure.

I should note, I'm new to the Audi's but know a lot about basic motor concepts from my racing days.

BTW, what kind of exhaust is that? It sounds sweet!
