It's associated with an airbag, you need to find out which airbag it is and replace it.

It was never in an accident. is it located under the hood between the headlights and the radiator? i saw two yellow clips in there that i was told is either a crash sensor or igniter.

Accident or not Airbag ignitors still go bad due to age etc.

You might want to take it to a shop the SRS system is not something that should be messed with by someone not familiar with those systems.

The crash sensor is in the ABS module which is located on the transmission tunnel under the center console in the dash. When in a crash the entire module must be replaced or reset.
