i have been driving on split open front outer cv boots on both front axles for over a year now. they are starting to make a lot of clicking and clunking sounds. i have been looking at some places to buy new cv axles and was wondering where is the best place to get them from keeping in mind that i have 2 kids and money is tight with xmas right around the corner. i have looked at the following places,

JHM ( heard that there not the best)
    FCP Groton
    part source
    napa( http://www.napacanada.com/en/PartsAc...ppingList.aspx)
i provided the link cause im not sure how good the part is from napa and maybe someone on here would know

also with the clunking, i thought i had a blown control arm bushing but im not sure, would or could really bad cv joints make a clunking when going over bumps and light braking?thank you.

Over a year huh? That is quite a long time. You can search and find so many different choices on CV axles and some will say na and some will say ya. I was sick of people saying EMPI was shit and EMPI was great. I searched and did the same thing so I just went with a known distributer that I have always liked and never had a problem with. Your choice but I actually ordered EMPI ones and kept getting the wrong ones or an email saying they where out of stock. After receiving and returning 2 sets of EMPI axles I chose these. Choose what you like I just like these people and have never personally had a problem with them and they are cheap.

www.raxles.com sells axles for 170 each, just have to send your old ones back to them. Great customer service. They use OEM shafts.

meyle sells a new boot with the whole head of the axle for about 45 bucks each. that is all you need to replace. really you should have just replaced the axle boots for much less money than leaving it for a year and now needing entire axles.

I would however I need my car for work and I would have to do a one for one swap during the weekend. I'm thinking I'm going to get a set from fcp groton there 245 with shipping which is not bad. I'm just worried about the quailty, I've heard very little about them. I know about reaxle and that there very good however there more money then I want to spend. jhm I've heard mixed reviews and the ones from mjm sound good but shipping is through thne roof. Could someone please chime in on thne question in bold red in my post about clunking. Thank you. I think this thread has gone as far as it can about where to get axles from but still concerned about the clunk. I know clicking comes from cvs but does a bad cv also make a clunk when going over bumps and light braking? Thank you.

after a year of dirty destroying the ball bearings your gonna want to get new shafts.

Im pretty sure I used FCP groton when i did half shafts on my paps volvo 3 years ago. think they have almost 60k on them now with no problems
