AWE exhaust with downpipes - does it drone?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
For those of you who went from AWE exhaust without downpipes to AWE with downpipes – what are your thoughts? Too loud? Does it drone like crazy? I have the system without downpipes right now but I really wouldn’t mind it being a little louder....

i did the dp & exhaust at the same time and the first time i drove it was loud. It does quiet down. To be honest i miss how it sounded for the first few hundred miles. As far as drone i havent experienced any.

It doesn't drone too much more then just the exhaust itself, it just sounds louder and meaner.

I had a stasis exhaust and it droned like crazy, I changed it to a milltek non-res with AWE downpipes and its much quitter inside the cabin than the stasis, I love my new setup

Like Kevin said- I totally agree - I miss the break in period sound level, this is a V8, it should sound like one, and the stock system is just waaaay to quite. It sealed up in about 1 month or a little less and is only really 'loud' if you get on it hard. The car on the highway can drone a little above 3K but I notice it more when the system is cold in the morning then in the afternoon, makes it a little hard to use the phone in bluetooth mode as even my callers can hear it, but its well worth living with to generate the most from the car/exhaust set up- I would not go backwards for any other set up. It is very different at different levels and so well tuned to the pedel that at cruise control @ say 65 to 75 its hardly noticeble to me on my drive home, i have to downshift or get into a tunnel to really make it get noticed.
