Recently one of my boost hoses disconnected from my driver side turbo and the turbo blew, spilling oil all over the transmission and CV area. The round connector for the neutral safety (multifunction) switch got covered in oil, as well as the switch itself. Before I noticed this, my car had been having transmission issues:
Whenever I would put the car in reverse from park, it would pause for a second before roughly throwing it into reverse. All of the gears (PRNDS) would light up and stay solidly lit on the instrument panel, and when I would put the car in D it would be in limp mode. I'd have to turn the car off and back on to put it in D and drive normally. It would throw the code P0706 (Trans Range Sensor). Eventually, it got to the point where the little gear interlock light (the "put your foot on the brake" indicator) on the gear shifter would stay lit while in reverse and click off when I put my foot on the brake, as if it was in park.
I've searched and not found anything absolute. I know there is nothing wrong with my TCM as it is mint and not wet. Could the oil have messed up the neutral safety switch? Should I clean it, replace it, or look into something else as the source of the problem?
