    OEM Battery Specs

My battery has lasted me almost five years, so I want to replace it with the OEM and not aftermarket.
I found two choices of batteries online but cant tell if I need the 380 amp ($150) or 450 amp one ($105). Surprisingly the 450 amp one is cheaper. I tried checking the battery under the hood, but there is nothing besides a warning sticker. My car is an 2006 a4 2.0t fwd. The dealer wants too much for it, and an arm for installation...so I will just order it online and put it in myself. So, which one is the correct one?

I believe in 450 amp came on the cold package cars but don't hold me to that.

are you referring to the 450 amp or getting something aftermarket? I was reading threads from searches I found on the forum and I concluded the best would be to get the oem. I really like that fact that his OEM battery has lasted me almost 5 years, and from past experience with other cars..I have not run into a battery that has lasted me over 3 years. That is even after I have changed out my sound system a couple times (adding amps). The only bad thing about the OEM battery is that it weights more than aftermarket batteries. What do you recommend..I have small system with 2 amplifiers too?

Just go to Pepboys. They will know what you need and will be pretty cheap.

Always had very good luck with Optimas (Red Top and Yellow Top). Yea I know they're somewhat expensive but the last Red Top I had ran for almost 7 years (including 3 AZ/FL summers and mid-Atlantic winters) even when recharged with a POS GM electrical system (replaced the alternator twice during that time). Was also running ~1500w of stereo equipment with a 15 farad cap. Replaced the Red Top with a Yellow Top and subsequently sold the vehicle 2 years later, was still running strong. Once my OEM goes I'm headed straight back to Optima..

Why don't you just go the dealer. Give them your vin and they will pull the exact battery. I think it ends with AD OR DH. Or maybe something else but it will be 380 din. Germans don't really use cca. That battery should be about 100 dollars at the dealer give or take a few bucks. Plus I am sure you can find a coupon online for the dealer for 10 percent off.

Just replaced my OEM with an Optima Red Top, did myself in 20 min. No recoding or anything besides setting the date and time. I would recommend it so far.

I think I may go for pep boys since it is bosch brand. About the same price as Duralast from autozone. I tried ordering from genuine but they say they can't ship cause it's haz mat.

yea they just sent me the same email saying they cant ship hazardous material. Well I was about to get a red top, but from searching on this forum and other forums..the best way to go is OEM. The red top have many bad reviews online and from this thread, it seems that the OEM is better than the red top.

Yea, just noticed on Optima's website that they DO NOT have a battery designed for VAG cars... Bummer... :(

Nonsense they don't list them but they work just fine. I got this one....http://www.amazon.com/Optima-Batteri.../dp/B000MS9VZK from a batteries plus store for 155.

Most important thing is to make sure you get the 35, because the terminals are on the correct sides.

After playing with it for a minute after installing it got it in a good location and need no additional mounts or brackets. Sits very securely in the OEM battery location.

I was hoping to only spend around $100-$120, any other suggestions here?
