Cool Dropped off my car this morning for STāSIS ECU Tune + Exhaust

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Dropped off my car this morning at my local dealer to get the ECU Tune + Exhaust installed. I can't wait to get it back (~6 business days)! In the meantime, they have given me an A3 TDI loaner which is quite peppy. It's no S4, but I wouldn't mind having one as my daily commuter since the MPG's is much better.

Also, they are looking into the water pump issue. My SA did say that there is a recall on it but it is done in batches as mentioned in previous threads. Hopefully he will be nice enough to swap it out for me. He said that he had an S4 towed in just last night which makes me more nervous.

Now for the POLL: I'd like your opinion on whether or not I should put on the lower right trunk mounted STāSIS badge. It doesn't look tacky, but not sure if I should keep it stealth.

Will Stasis give you a badge for just chip & exhaust? A lot of similar companies (like Dinan) want you to buy a ton of parts first.

Either way, I don't think I'd put it on.

Badge looks really good on the brilliant red and all. Would look OK on Ibis but I still wouldn't put it on.

WOW 6 days for a 4 hour job. This could only happen at the dealership.

    No badge, it's tacky.

Even all of the DINAN, Alpina, Brabus, Lorinser badges are for posers. Look at me I spent $1K for a chip in my benz. Badges are way overrated in my book. For those in the know, will know and for those that don't know, don't have a clue what STASIS is or means. $.02

In general most people have a difficult time distinguishing an A4/S4/RS4.

LOL, to be honest, the guys (not a dealer) that put my catback on only took 2 hours and it was the first one they ever did on the B8 and the first APR one, so it was all new to them. I pulled my own ECU in 5 min, and shipped it, then reinstalled it in 5 min. Not sure how long the ECU flash takes, but yea, saying 4 hours is being pretty liberal.

6 business days is buffer time and worst possible scenario. But they have to ship the ECM to STaSIS on the east coast over night. They may have to do a bunch, but who knows, and then ship it back to the dealership. Packaging and shipping takes at least 3 days. They charge 1 hr labor for ECU, yes I know for something that takes 10 minutes. They are charging 2.5 hours to install the exhaust. Many people will say 2 hours and for $200 at some shops, but I'm doing it for warranty reasons. If your parts are not installed at a STaSIS signature series dealer, they will not honor any defects or problems that the parts may cause. I know how dealers are, but I'm not looking to save a couple hundred bucks on a $61k car.

I also do not have a 2nd car I can use while the ECM is being shipped. The dealer gave me one and it saved me a lot of headaches. Building relationship with your dealer is not a bad thing if they have a good reputation. The more service you give them the better they'll take care of you in the future. We'll see if they replace my water pump outside of the VIN recall range. That will make my day!

Rector customer service, in my experience, is pretty good. I usually work with Roger, and he's pretty helpful and updates me throughout the day. My only complaint is the lack of loaner vehicles. Enterprise must be making some good money working with them.

I hear you about dealership and warranty work. That's the primary reason why most B8 owners purchase Stasis products. It's just a little unfortunate, that you the consumer has to wait for such a long time for "a simple job". Just think if something out of the ordinary happens, you'll be waiting for a while. It sounds like the guys at your stealership have some skills, are competent and you have a relationship with them, which is key.

    Exactly.

I prefer no badging simply for ease of polishing and waxing - call me lazy. But like the supercharged badge, the Stasis one is clean and easy to work around.

Do what you like. You wouldn't have bothered asking if you didn't like it. Get the 20" Stasis wheels with the 275's while you're at it. I like them.

when he could drive it down the coast for programming and save the 6 day wait...

Seems like there is a lot of people who think STaSIS outsources their ECU flash. It doesn't really matter to the consumer at the end of the day when there is a warranty attached. Like I said earlier I can get my car back as soon as Friday as stasis have been really responsive of late. 6 days is just a precautionary estimate. I got loaned a brand new A3 TDI in the meantime so it's not all that bad during the wait. We'll see on Friday but at worst Monday.

I am not a big fan of badges, but that one does not look bad at all.

Najjar is right. You have to have the entire "signature" package to get the badge. I have the chip & exhaust, but no badge. They offered me a sticker. LOL. a sticker on a 60k car...really? If some of these conjectures have any merit, maybe APR will give you a badge :)
